Oh man! I SOOOO feel your pain. I get told by everyone constantly that i am gonna have a BIG baby and am I sure I am not having twins. to make it worse i have a friend who is two weeks ahead of me and a lot smaller and then yesterday we went to my friends preschool and she has a coworker who is super small and only 2 weeks behind me. I try ot to let it get me down but it does. I really would prefer not to have a super huge baby or feel super huge right now. I realize i am for sure in the larger end of my group for showing but I am not jessica simpson big and even if i was it is not because i sit and eat nachos all day like she does. I take good care of myself but i have already gained close to 30lbs myself at 26 and a half weeks. I wish people would learn the ettiquette on this. I even told a friend about it and that many people don't realize, including myself before pregnancy, that a pregnant woman feels very bad when she hears "You are so huge." Her reaction was to say "Well now i don't want to say anything because i don't want to be one of those people. Real nice. Yeesh.

@chopsuey119: haha.. I take NO pictures while pregnant! I don't know why... I like my bump but I think I am just uncomfortable looking at pictures of myself with a bump!! I had Wagon Sr. snap a few pics at the end of my first pregnancy just so that I could look back and remember how big I was. But I'm not a bump pic person!!

Post bump pics so I can tell you how gorgeous you look! ;)
Everyone told me I was huge and asked if I was having twins.
I would tell them no. I gained over 50lbs-- it's mostly fat :D

I loved my pregnancy body. I've struggled with my weight my entire life and being pregnant allowed me to embrace my body in a completely different way. That being said, people were down right rude and said the stupidest things!

I was constantly being asked if I was "sure it wasn't twins." Um yeah, pretty sure. Want to consult on my next ultrasound? It was just rude. I only gained 26lbs and was damn proud of that. I also had tons of people telling me that I wouldn't make it to my due date. DS was 2 days late. People are just ignorant and need to learn to filter!

Embrace your bump! You are beautiful! You're growing a human!

Ugh. People! Every time I hear "twins?" or worse "triplets?", I just want to tell them that it's rude. To me, it's almost as rude as asking someone if they are pregnant when they aren't sporting a bump at all.

Also, I have GD and my doctor said women with GD sometimes have swelling in their bellies so sometimes we appear to have larger baby bumps even if our baby is a normal size.

I know how you feel. I am just a petite person and am huge...had a pretty big bump at 15 weeks. 27 weeks now and the comments are ridiculous...everything from "wow, no boobs all belly," to "you still have 3 months? You look like you could go any day!"

I've heard quite a few "you're huge" or "look at your growing belly" comments - but the one I heard last weekend took the cake. It was from a very awkward neighbor that I haven't seen in quite a long time. He's pretty socially inept and his joking style is a bit different, but when he saw me he said "you're fat," and walked away. Well, ok then. Thanks?

LOVE your bump! I'm sure you are beautiful during and not pregnant!

My bump was super small and everyone always commented on how small it was. Which of course made me worry that baby was going to be teeny tiny. But LO was born 7lb 8 oz, I think a pretty healthy weight for a 39 week 5 day baby!
My SIL's bump got HUGE this time around but it was all amniotic fluid. So of course my mom had to keep telling me I wasn't drinking enough "soup" that's why my bump was so small compared to SIL. As if.
My nephew was barely a lb heavier than my daughter. And now I think my daughter has actually caught up in weight! :)

I think having the baby in the opposite season (with more "revealing" maternity clothes) plays a big factor into this too, Wagon. I've gotten some "big bump" comments (mostly from my mom, but she's an Asian mom and always talked about my size anyway), so I try not to let it bother me.

I was JUST talking about this with someone this morning. I'm 37w today, and the comments about my bump drive me crazy -- and they're mostly from co-workers. I wonder: how would these other non-pregnant people feel if I commented on the status of their stomach or other aspect of their physical appearance every day? My usual response is "The Dr. says I'm right on track." That usually does the trick. Somehow they wake up with amnesia the next morning, and it starts all over again. The person I spoke to this morning said that maybe they all feel the need to comment because they're excited for me and they can tell I'm getting closer to welcoming the baby? Or maybe others are just fascinated by such an obviously physical change in a short amount of time?

UGH! I get totally weird comments all the time about my bump too. Some people say that my bump looks small and give me this look of concern like "Are you sure she's developing correctly?" And some people are like "WOAH! You're huge!" Once in a while I'll get a nice comment like "Oh you're glowing!" but usually it's one of the other ones I mentioned.

I had this happen this weekend, there are 4 of us in my DH's family's circle of friends all due within 6 weeks of each other. I'm 2nd to go but have the biggest bump by far. The other 3 are all extremely tall and thin girls. I think my body type just causes me to have a more noticable 'bump.' But that made everyone at the hometown celebration comment on how "big" I'm getting and lots of belly rubs!

I had a huge belly...gained almost 50 pounds. My poor mom would have to hear other ladies telling her I was getting too big too fast.

I agree that clothes definitely showcase the bump now... One time I went to taco bell to satisfy a craving (not my best moment I know) and the cashier made a comment like, "you're having a girl right? My mom says people having girls have big wide bellies"....I wanted to stab her just a little

Show off your bump and who cares what others have to say about it! People should just learn to tell pregnant women they look fabulous. I can't really relate yet as I'm only 18 weeks along. So far everyone says I look so tiny which I guess isn't a bad thing. But no pregnant woman wants to hear they're too small or too big. My sister called me fat over the weekend. Then a lady in sephora was mad at how tiny I was.... She kept saying "uh I can't believe how tiny you are and you already know what you're having!" That was my first comment from a stranger and I'm not looking forward to more that are sure to come as I get bigger.

I totally hear you on this. This is my first pregnancy, so I have nothing to compare my experience to. When people find out that I'm having twins, they comment on how little I am for 26 weeks. But my mom, stepmom, and other female relatives get a little *too* much joy out of telling me how huge I am now and how huge I'm going to be by the end of the pregnancy. I finally started telling people that the "huge" comments hurt my feelings, and I've heard a lot less from them about it. I'm carrying all in the front with my bump, and I'm mostly pleased with how things have been going, but there are still days where I feel gross and bloated and the LAST thing I need is someone telling me how huge I am. Ugh.

My SIL had twins and she was really big. My DH and I never said anything to her about it, but honestly, it was hard not to notice and feel for her. It's not something we were used to seeing.

Anyway, it may be hard to respond to strangers, but can you ask your mom to stop? ie: "I know how big I am. So does my doc and he/she assures me the baby and I are healthy and normal. So let's not talk about my size anymore ok."

Embrace the bump! I work in the city which means taking the train and lots of walking. When I was pregnant, I was so excited when I really started showing because it meant people would offer up seats on the subway and traffic would actually stop when I walked through the crosswalk.

So I get all kinds of comments about my bump... one of my closest friends who I don't normally get to see often (she lives in on the opposite coast) always insists that I look even smaller than when I was pregnant with Wagon Jr. My close friends and of course Wagon Sr. constantly tell me that I look good and similar to how I looked with Wagon Jr., which makes me happy because I do like how my body looks pregnant.

But I CONSTANTLY get comments from both friends and strangers about how BIG I am. When they ask how far along I am, it's almost always followed by "wow, but you look like you're about to pop!" My mom has consistently told me that I look prettier during this pregnancy, which is nice, but she can't stop commenting about how big my belly is this time. She says it with concern: "why are you so big this time? you're getting too big. You shouldn't get any bigger." Ugh, I can't stand it.

I can't really remember exactly how big I was with Wagon Jr., especially since I'm not wearing the same maternity clothes as before since it was the opposite season. But I really don't think I'm that big! Also, since getting diagnosed with GD almost a month ago, I haven't gained a single pound. Plus I was on the verge of having to go up a size in underwear, but now they're fitting just fine.

So even though I gained a lot quicker in the beginning with this pregnancy, I've held steady at 30 lbs gained for the past month. I'm 32 weeks tomorrow. If I can hold steady or gain less than 10 more lbs, I'll have reached my goal of not gaining more than I did with Wagon Jr. the first time around.

These days pregnancy clothes are all about showcasing the bump... dresses are clingy and make you look even bigger than you are. I think I look cute in them but I can NOT stand any more "wow, you are huge!" comments!! I guess I got spoiled by my first pregnancy because 1) it was winter, so I was wearing drapey sweaters all the time and 2) my belly was all out in front with Wagon Jr. making me appear smaller.

I guess I just need some hive support in embracing my bump :)
