This is why I WFH again today! My commute is an hour, and most of it is back roads, through towns with closed schools, so I knew the roads would be bad this morning. Not worth the hassle.

about an hour from my house to Weston! (usually 20 minutes)
The street that were once 2-3 lanes are down to one snow-covered lane, same volume of traffic, so yeah, sitting through light after light.

at least we don't take the Red Line?

@hellobeeboston: I get the text alerts but there was nothing for my train as I was waiting for it, ugh. I guess I should install twitter... the website never has the alerts I'm looking for! Until after the delay is over and I'm already on the train :(

Your commute sounds hellish as well... Everyone at work is pissed today...! I was also on that crammed, smelly orange line! People were being so mean, pushing and shoving :(

After reading these stories, I am glad I decided to work from my satellite office today! It's normally my long commute day but I just do not trust Metro North!

@QueensBee: Yes, the green line has been so wacky! Even the parts below ground  I got 40 minutes tacked onto my commute because my train was late and then may or may not have gone express, and kicked off everyone who needed local stops. And it usually runs so often, if the train is late by even 10 minutes there's literally no more room on the platform.

@mrs. wagon: also. Twitter and mbta website are usually pretty good about commuter rail updates.

Omg. I just got to work, it's 11:15, I left at 8:40. Our driveway got plowed in by the plow guys so DH was out early making a path so I could get to train. Train was 1 hr late. Shuttle bus to office was nowhere. Had to take crammed, smelly orange line to downtown, then walked to park since red line was out of commish, then silver line to office. So not worth it. But, I did need to get out of my house!!!!!

@QueensBee: This happened to me too on the commuter rail (I think your equivalent to the metronorth)! I stood on the platform for almost 40 mins with zero notifications on the little board that flashes the arrivals there... until like 35 mins in when it said the train is "not moving"... ?!?!?

Yesterday it took me 2 hours to go one stop on the E train, this morning I didn't get to work until 9.45. I am so over winter, over it.

YES! I had the worst commute this morning! I stood on a MetroNorth platform waiting for my delayed train for almost 30 minutes. There were no announcements about any delays and I was freezing!

When I finally made it to NYC, there were signal delays on the 4/5 train so I took the local 6 train. Once I was underground, we sat on the track for 20 more minutes due to an injured passenger at 68th street!

It took me almost 2 hours to finally get to my desk....
and my toes are frozen too!

Ugh. That sucks, I'm sorry.

The ride to work sucked today, fortunately it's not far. There were lots of cars that had slid into snowbanks & there was a traffic light at a major intersection that was out, so that was a giant cluster trying to get through. That and lots of streets have lost a lane so everything was super congested. Blah. I'm over snow for the month.

@mrs. wagon: Oh, that sounds awful. I got lucky that my school had a late start today, but even so I just barely made it! It took 1.5 hours to get to work today (and I had to drop LO at daycare, which added on about 5 minutes).

Anyone in the midwest/northeast have a horrible commute story they want to share and commiserate??

Wagon Sr. is not home this week so we hired a plow but he didn't get to the house until 12:30am... I was so nervous that he wouldn't show and we'd be screwed in the morning! So I didn't go to sleep until 1am. LMW woke me up 4 hours later. We left the house at 6:45am (usually we do daycare dropoff at 7am, on the train at 7:15, I'm at my desk at 8am) and I didn't get to work until past 9. I am wearing heavy duty snow boots and my toes are totally frozen.
