@GreenThumb: Yay for team pink!! I found out I was having a girl and that I had a velamentous insertion at my 20 week scan as well, so I totally get how you're feeling today. I don't have placenta previa, so my situation is a little different, but I totally get the stress & worry that accompany that sort of surprising news. I've talked to my docs 'til they're sick of me, and I've done so much research on insertions and c-sections, and we are in good hands! We are incredibly lucky to live in a country and time where these things mean basically nothing but extra monitoring & caution -- we can and will have healthy deliveries! :)

You went through two rounds of IVF, this is just another bump in the road. I know what you mean though - I thought the actual pregnancy would be a cakewalk after IVF. Your doctors will make sure you and your baby are safe.

Congratulations on your baby girl!

@mrs. jacks: @runsyellowlites: @lemondrop: @mrs. pen: @yellowbird: @alivoo01: @msmini: Thank you ladies so much for your support. It is tough when things like this come up out of the blue, but I know we will be well cared for, it is really good to find out early, and I am sooooo excited about having a little girl!

Congratulations on having a little girl! I know there is a lot of negativity out there about c-sections, I had an emergency one (and will have planned ones with future LOs), and no matter how your baby is born, it is a wonderful experience, because that is your experience.

A lot of people worry about bonding/breastfeeding etc, and I know in my case we are still EBFing at 9 1/2 months old, and my little guy is as bonded with me as he could possibly be.

No birth is "better" than any other, everyone has a different set of circumstances and a different story. We even got some awesome c-section birth pictures (my DH is a photographer). Talk to your provider, since your c-section is planned, you can probably arrange some "perks" that make having a c-section an awesome birth experience for you and your baby.

Congrats on being Team Girl!! Sorry you're going through a rough patch, but at least you'll be closely monitored and 37 weeks isn't too far away. It'll be here in a blink of an eye!

@GreenThumb: I have a friend who had placenta previa and she had her baby at 34 weeks. It was hard for sure, she had a c-section too. He was in the nicu for about 4 weeks and he is now thriving and doing great! You can make it!

I'm sorry you're going through this though. It's always scary when something unexpected happens like this

Congrats on your Lil girl! I missed your bfp- so exciting!

The ultrasounds were my favorite part of pregnancy, you get to know your baby a little more each time. Sending you happy and healthy thoughts for your second half. Your experience would be interesting to write a guest post about!

@GreenThumb: It may have been that your uterus had some factor that made implantation really difficult so that you were predisposed to a previa (and made pregnancy really hard in the first place-- in other words IVF and previa could go hand in hand?)...

But you'll know your baby's birthdate ahead of time and will be able to plan for it...

And... you are pregnant, which is a wonderful thing :)

You can do this mama!

Congrats on finding out you're having a girl! YAY!

I don't have any personal experience with the velamentous insertion or placenta previa BUT like @Mrs. Jacks pointed out you'll get lots more pics of bebe AND thankfully it was caught early so they can prep for a safe delivery!

@Mrs. Jacks: Thank you! Viability has been on my mind lately and we are so thankful that we are close! I'm headed to the OB this afternoon, so we'll get more info. I thought once the IVF was successful we were through the rough part...

Aww honey... I had a velamentous insertion. The bright spot is that as you get closer you will have US's every week and that's always fun. I have a million pictures of Lala! And you are already at 20 weeks, so rapidly approaching viability... another great thing!

Wow - I've just been thrown for a loop. We just had our 20 week scan (I'm 20w5d) and it sounds like I have complete placenta pre via (the placenta covers the cervix entirely) and a velamentous cord insertion so there is zero chance of delivering vaginally and I will have a scheduled C-section at between 37-38 weeks. Whoa! Totally shocked! I'm glad they found this early and it seems like they will watch me/baby closely to make sure nothing bad happens. We are thrilled to find out that we are having a baby girl (yay!!!!), but feel like the fertility/pregnancy gods are not smiling on us (I went through 2 IVFs before getting pregnant).
I could really use some cheering up :(.
