Every. single. day. </p> <p>That doesn't mean it has been easy. We lost half of our income, and our health insurance coverage. My husband made a career change right after I got fired. We were just in a risk taking life changing mood I think! We made some sacrifices on the home front but we've survived so far (8 months and counting!). I'm basically a stay at home mom for now, but I'm blogging, exploring some other online business options and doing some freelance work (and people are paying me, whoo hoo!). </p> <p>I'm definitely still in the midst of the transition but I don't miss my old work at all and I don't regret it for a second. Most things that are hard or scary are worth doing. You can totally do this! You could also probably find a career advising place that could help you with your resume and/or give practice interviews. I'd highly recommend seeking that out. We have a service in my city that is free for job seekers! And if that doesn't exist, get a friend to interview you. Think up potential questions, go to the Library and get some interview books. You've GOT this!</p> <p>ETA: I also switched career paths after realizing that many aspects of my previous career weren't working for me anymore. Now I adore my job. It was hard to break into my field, but it was totally worth it. It also helped me to find a mentor to help explain how to get into the industry and what they might be looking for in interviews. Don't sell yourself short. You have a lot of knowledge and skills that will be applicable in a new job/industry. Renewables and O&amp;G are both part of the Energy Industry. No matter where you are in the Energy industry, you have to understand basics - how to harness natural resources, convert them into a usable form, and get them to the consumer. You also understand how government regulations shape the industry.</p> <p>I'm a huge believer in applying for interesting jobs. I think going through the interview process helps you learn a lot about what you do and don't want in a new job/company and better help you decide if its worth it to switch jobs or not. Its also a great way to expand your network, practice your interview skills, and learn more about a new job/field/industry/company. He'd never really interviewed, had never even written a resume before, and he said it was the scariest thing he'd ever done, and the absolute best. He did land development before o&amp;g. He now does battery storage, wind and solar. He thought it was a pretty easy transition, though he had to learn a lot. Pay was comparable, a bit lower at first, but a raise in the first 6 months brought it back to the same rate. It should be more.by next year.
