@septca: I have not had an HSG. I am wavering back and forth between calling my dr. back and asking to move forward again. I don't want to have surgery, etc. However, I am in pain about 1/2 the time and it is impacting my life and job, and constantly reminding me that I'm not pregnant and this may be why. I'm also afraid of waiting too long and the endo doing additional damage. I've only been off birth control for about 11 months and my symptoms have been increasing over the past few months pretty quickly.

@owlteach: My mother and my grandmother have endometriosis as well - both had no trouble conceiving (6 pregnancies between them), but they also had children much younger than I did and my mom was on BCP for her symptoms starting at 15.

We are TTC#2 right now and I had an HSG at the start of last cycle. I am very much hoping that we will not need intervention again.

Have you had an HSG? For me, the surgery was incredible because it alleviated most of my pain, but the HSG is what really gave me answers and helped me conceive DD. It's a pretty easy procedure, so I would recommend that before you do anything else as most endometriosis-caused infertility is due to blocked tubes.

I don't have endo but my mom had it so badly that after she had my sisters she had a full hysterectomy just to get rid of the pain.

She and my dad decided they were ready to start trying for kids but her Dr. told her that with how progressed her endo was, that it was going to be really difficult. The following month she was pregnant with me. A couple years later they decided they wanted to try for more, she went to the Dr. to get a check-up to see how things were going before actively trying and lo and behold, she was already pregnant, with TWINS.

Now, my family is ungodly fertile. We just got lucky that way. But her endo was extremely bad and she was able to have 2 perfectly healthy pregnancies and 3 perfectly healthy babies.

Good luck!

My mother had endo and she didn't have difficulties conceiving naturally (she had 3 pregnancies, one ending in mc), but from what I understand it had no affect on her ovulation. So if you can get the ovulation happening, there is certainly hope of conceiving naturally! Good luck!!!

Thank you all for your time and answers! Obviously, I would just prefer to get pregnant this month, or anytime soon, on my own without interventions. But, I kind of feel like after 8 months of trying my chances aren't all that great and I will be wasting 4 more months with no chance of conceiving and I'll be in pain that whole time. I am a high school teacher and I teach 3 periods of shop a day. By the time I get to lunch, I am done and have a hard time making it through my 5th period shop class. My back and pelvic region just hurt and it wears me out. Ok, I'm done whining for now :) Thanks again for your advice, I'm working my way through all the threads!

@Happygal: The first time, they found adhesions outside of my reproductive system, in my bowels and other parts of my abdomen. They actually thought I may have IBS as well even though I had no bowel issues and made me get a full GI workup including colonoscopy just to be certain. That all came back negative so they said it was just endo. My doc did say when she was in there doing suregery that my tubes were clubbed at the ends so I had an HSG back then as well about 6 months post op which showed my left fallopian tube was fully functional and the right was functional but delayed. All the dye pooled up and the end and then spilled out. I think we'll see what happens this month and if no luck I'll mention it to my doc and see what her thoughts are.

@katieleigh_82: That's exciting that you're starting TTC! I haven't experienced this, but I would think needing an additional surgery may be necessary. I wonder if it depends on the extent of your surgery the first time, and if your endo is an aggressive type. My doctor said that I could take a month or so after the surgery, but he wouldn't want to wait too long after that.

I have endo dx'd with surgery in 2002 or 2003, and am currently TTC#1. I am on cycle #6 right now and often wonder if I need to have surgery again to sort of "clear the plumbing"....has anyone had a repeat procedure years later and had luck TTC?

@owlteach: those threads @septca: provided should give you A LOT of information! You'll see that @mrswin: had a blood test done that can help get a better idea of whether it's really endo you're dealing with (I think it's something like CA 125....)

I'm signed up for surgery for endo on March 21. I have a painful area, but it's not tender to the touch. It's weird--when I go to touch it, I expect it to be sore, but it's a deep pain inside of me.

I had a lap and it was good from a pain management standpoint although it hasn't helped with IF but we have MF issues as well

ETA: Are you seeing an RE or a GYN?

@Happygal: she said she cant guarantee anything until surgery, but I'm in a decent amount of pain, and a lot of pain during mybperiod. That combined with the areas that were really tender yesterday during the exam led her to that likely diagnosis.

I'm curious--what part of the exam made her certain you have endo?

My RE suspects it and we've been trying for awhile. If you do a search here, I think you can find lots of positive stories!

I have endo and it really depends where your endo is--mine isn't anywhere that it seems to cause issues! BUT I have also had two laparoscopic procedures AND a D&C to clean up scar tissue. So if you need the surgery, it can help a lot!

I was able to see my Dr. today instead of next week because a few snow flurries caused a bunch of other patients to cancel. After an exam she is pretty sure that I have Endometriosis, but said there is no way to confirm other than surgery. We have been trying for 8 months and confirmed ovulation in month 5. At this point, we are going to confirm ovulation with blood tests each cycle. If I am not ovulating consistently, or if we make it to month 12 with no pregnancy, then we will be looking at surgery.

So, I am really hoping for some stories of people that conceived naturally with endo to cheer me up :) Hubs works nights, and I am ovulating in the next day or two....so I'm trying to convince myself to wake up at 3 am to bd tonight, but I'm also kind of feeling like it may be pointless.
