@tysonja: That is exactly what I did to organize my baby clothes.

I also find that Carter's fits small, it seems to be slimmer than other clothing.

@shopaholic: I think the footed sleep n plays do run small, to be honest. She always outgrew them long before the rest of her stuff.

@hilsy85: @zippylef: @Smurfette: Maybe I find Carter's to run small because the main Carter's pieces we've used so far have been the footed sleepers. I did go out and buy some non-footed sleepers in 3M and those were still really long, but I thought it was because it was a different kind of material than the footed sleepers.

what i did was after washing most of his clothes pre-birth, i laid out 3 clothing items in 'example' sizes (nb, 0-3, 3-6) and then just held each item up to the three examples to determine which size pile i should put it in :). it didn't take as long as it sounds! :)

I think it depend on which carter's you buy, Child of Mine by Carter's I think run pretty accurate and are more long/lean.

I find the Target and Walmart Carter's lines run small, but I don't think their regular line runs small at all. I think it's one of the longer brands.

@zippylef: Maybe it's because she's got long legs? In proportion to her torso I mean...my LO is also really tall, but can still fit into carter's 0-3 month onesies (he's 6.5 months).

I have honestly never had an issue with Carter's running small, and I have a big baby. :/ She wear 18m and can still fit into her 12m Carter's onesies and shirts.

But yeah, 3m is 0-3, 6m is 3-6, etc.

Carter's definitely runs small and tight...the onesies actually works really well for our tall skinny boy (he's got long legs), although he does outgrow the footed sleepers quickly.

yeah I actually stuck a lot of the 3m items with newborn or 0-3 because they run so small.

However the onesies/body suits fit him forever. He was in the 3-6 month onesies for 9 months!

That's how I looked at it. I thought their sizes were pretty on it for the first half of C's first year.. but then she got to the 90th % in height so they're a little small now. But as long as I looked at it as 3 months = 0-3 months and so on, they were right.

I noticed they seem to run really small too (based on hand me downs). I kept them with the ones that look about the same size and erred on the side of keeping them with smaller things-- I'd rather have them be too big than miss using them.

Yes and I agree Carter's runs small and shrinks! At least I feel like her footed sleepers all shrunk a lot! Where I JUST started putting K in some Baby Gap 0-3 this week and it's still long and loose and Little Me NB is still too big, she's been in her Carter's 3 month sleepers for a couple of weeks already.

@lawbee11: it depends where you buy it. There are different "levels" of Carter's. I've seen some at walmart and some at Macy's. they are sized differently. For example: the Carter's outfit I got from target is 6-9m and fits LO (6.5m) whereas his outfit from Macy's doesn't fit yet! And it's "6m".
I stopped looking at sizes and just filed them in his closet by eye balling them. In general though: they run small.

And they shrink a bit (most baby clothing does). I try to never dry Carter's. And when I do, I put them in the dryer all together (with Ralph Lauren stuff too) and dry them in Tumble Dry.

I am going through the hand-me-downs from SIL, and I noticed the Carter's stuff doesn't give a range of months; it just says "3 months" or "6 months." So is 3 months 0-3 and 6 months 3-6?
