And we currently live with my parents (38 days til we can move into our new house!) so I made everyone brunch. Then, day-of, we went to church and the park and my husband cleaned my car for me as my Mother's Day treat, and then we went to my mom's for pizza and ice cream. So, we try to celebrate all the moms. I also helped my LO make cards for her grandmas, and we give them cards from us as well.</p> <p>Oh, and I make my husband take a picture of me with my LO every Mother's Day. MIL mentioned at dinner yesterday that she doesn't need the flowers we got her yesterday next year~ </p> <p>We will always do card/flowers/knick knack gifts from LOs for the grandmothers, but I think it'll be more "our family" focused. This year I didn't really get to celebrate myself because dh was. As for celebrating me, hubs clearly needs help on this front. I wasn't expecting a gift but he didn't even wish me happy mothers day. I feel that once you have a family of your own, you shouldn't be expected to go visit your mom if she lives out of town. If she is in town, I think it would be nice to do breakfast, lunch or church with her. I guess I'm trying to figure out if it's common for husbands to shift the focus on their wives on Mother's Day <u>or</u> or is it just an add-on to their own Mother's celebrations? </p> <p>Do you expect your husband to celebrate you (the mother of his children) or his own mother or both? Who has priority?</p> <p>I'm asking because it's been tradition to celebrate Mother's Day at my MIL's house. Am I supposed to resume tradition once our LO is born? Or will she always have this holiday until my babies are old enough to throw something for me?</p> <p>As for my own Mom, I send her a card and a gift (she lives far away). But even if she lived close-by, she wouldn't expect us to visit her on the day of. She's already congratulated me on Mother's Day and the LO isn't even here yet. She's a lot more understanding when it comes to these things, so it's not an issue with her.</p> <p>How do you do it? Who gets dibs on Mother's Day? Or do you have one big celebration and share it together? </p>
