I just sold all out baby equipment and 0-6 month clothes and some extras that we didn't use for DD2. It was all target/carters stuff. Nothing really high end and made over $250. That was worth it for me. It paid for the next 2 seasons clothes.

@bluestriped bee: I love JBF as a buyer, but have heard good or amazing things about selling - namely lots of work for not a ton of cash back. I do think it would be good for larger ticket items, but hanging a bunch of non name brand clothes seems like a ton of work for the cash you do get back.

@Mamaof2: Yeah, I'm not sure if I have the time or energy to do this again. I'm going to try a consignment store that will take my stuff. I do love JBF sales to buy things but consigning at them is just so much work.

I've been debating how I want to get rid of DS's clothes. I actually started a thread about selling at consignment sales. I'm a little intimidated by all the work, plus all of his infant clothes are not high end brands, just Carters mostly. IDK if it's worth the time and effort to buy hangers and tag everything. Part of me just wants to forget it and bag everything up and drop it off at Goodwill. But then I think that's kind of a waste.

My favorite local consignment sale is coming up and I'm looking forward to shopping at it. There's some gear I want for both the kids, and I want to score some cheap clothes for DD. I'm so excited to be able to shop in the girls' section, which is like 3 times bigger than the boys'!

I prefer the simplicity of just taking things to a store, they buy them from me, and then they have to deal with selling them. I know I don't get quite as much money but my time and energy has value to me too.

@bluestriped bee: I do not have time for JBF type of sales - I much prefer taking stuff and dropping it off - at the end of 8 weeks I get 50% of the selling price and anything that doesn't sell I donate - so much easier!

I am selling at my first JBF consignment sale this weekend. Wow! It was so much work putting things on hangers and tagging it. (Everything was dropped off Wednesday.) Then I decided to volunteer for 4 hours so I could increase my consignment sale commission. I'm exhausted. Plus, I was on my feet the entire time I volunteered on Wednesday and I'm still sore from all that walking. I'm not even sure if everything I sold was priced right.

I'm wondering if I should try dropping clothes off at a store and they tag everything for you. At stores like this, do they give you money when they review your stuff or do they give you money as it sells?

If you have sold things using a consignment, what do you prefer? I do like being able to list my own price but I also don't know if I underpriced or overpriced items.
