Glad to see your update that you called. My BH started really early and I think I shuld have paid much more attention to them cause I went into preterm labor at 32 weeks and didnt even know it. So just be careful :)

@Vegmama: Glad to know you called. Just keep an eye on it--and a good count when you can--and go with your gut! And don't ever hesitate to call or just show up at L&D. Seriously. Me complaining about my LO not moving around as much probably saved her life . . . and, in so doing, mine. :)

ETA: the not moving around complaint led to my induction at 38 weeks.

I had frequent Braxton Hicks from 16 weeks until the day I went into labor (39 weeks). They always freaked me out, but they never caused any cervical change. I'm glad you called though! It's always better to be safe, and the peace of mind is priceless.

Ladies, I talked with my midwife ... thank you for suggesting I call. We've had a major cold front in town the last few days, and we haven't turned on the furnace yet (which means I've been super cold & tense). She said that mixed with the extra pressure of baby on the bladder (a full bladder is a trigger for BH), is likely the culprit. She said a warm bath is a good way to warm up & relax ... and to call immediately if there's any pain associated with them at all. Good peace of mind.

@Vegmama: I had pretty painful BH contractions my entire 3rd trimester! Was so uncomfortable and took my breath away. I actually had them every 7-13 mins every night for a few hours, but my OB wasn't too concerned. Totally thought DS was going to come early, but we made it to 39+4!

@Vegmama: Yes! My LO baked until 38 weeks (I was induced due to low fluid (I had a slow leak - but that's another story!) and decels in LO's HR due to cord compression from low fluid). No worries - I am happy that you asked. :)

@MsLipGloss: Were they able to stop the preterm labor? Sorry if it's a sensitive topic (I tried looking at your posts, but they're hidden). I just paged my midwife since I'm not having any now (nor have I had any since last night) ... Curious if it happens again tonight, and what she says.

I had very frequent BH from about 18 weeks (like 6-7 an hour) all the way until I gave birth. It won't hurt to get it checked out, but some women just have a lot of them.

If you have having 5 BHs in an hour, you need to go to L&D and get checked out. Don't call. Just go. I had pre-term labor at 22 weeks . . . I thought it was just BHs.

I don't say this to scare you, but out of an abundance of caution.

Hi Bees. Hope you're all having a beautiful week so far!

So, I had my 24 week midwife appointment last week (of course, when everything was going perfectly).

Now, at 25 weeks, I've been having pretty consistent Braxton Hicks the last two evenings. They are not painful at all (I can just feel them as we're laying on the couch).

I drink a TON of water, and I'm noticing that I've kind of lost the feeling of needing to pee. I know that a full bladder can induce Braxton Hicks, so I'm really trying to focus on peeing as much as possible.

So yeah, I had 4 or 5 last night during an hour long TV show. It concerned me a bit, but I figured if they aren't painful, it's fine??? Anyone else have this experience in the late 2nd trimester/early 3rd trimester? Do you think I should talk with my midwives?
