@Dagny: We have also sprinkled ground flax seed on food, and that has helped as well.

Flax seed oil has worked wonders for my LO and his constipation! I literally put three drops on his food and he clears out. It's amazing. I only use it on occasion when I feel like he's backed up, but have had great success. Good luck!

I've been dealing with this lately and used mrs bre's list. Prunes are the number one helper for us, along with more water. I can't limit the dairy or fats too much because weight gain is an issue, but I try to add as much fruit and fiber as possible.

Tons of water. Berries and leafy greens are good and I would cut back on carbs.

Is he drinking enough water? If you've recently cut down his breastmilk supply, maybe part of the problem is he isn't getting enough fluids?

All of those foods cause constipation. I'd add some berries, seeds, leafy greens, whole fibers, etc. to help him nice things along. Try offering more water throughout the day.

I know every kid is different but my LO has fruit at every meal. If she doesn't finish her fruit I put it in a Tupperware and she can have it as a snack. So at least three times a day she is eating some kind of fruit. She is very regular and we've never had constipation problems.

Every time my 18 month old has to poop he gets a pained look on his face and fusses through it. He tends to have pretty big and very hard solid poops. This has been going on since I day weaned him. He usually poops every two days but sometimes daily. I'm wondering what if anything might help him. He eats a lot of yogurt, noodles, quinoa, bread and apples. I was thinking of adding some prunes to his lunch. Any suggestions???
