Probiotics like others suggested and puréed sweet potato. I would also recommend seeing a doctor or dietician to get their advice since it seems to be an ongoing problem and because the things you have tried don't seem to be helping. I know toddlers who had to be put on a strict diet to aid with constipation.

Have you tried watermelon? Berries? Raspberries seem to help a lot. Watermelon had some laxative properties.

ETA: also avoid rice, banana, almond milk and dairy. And yeah, I would take him to the doctor. My oldest had bad constipation and was significantly backed up. It took months to clear him out! You can also try a suppository to get things moving. It can be necessary if things in the front end are pretty hard.

We gave DS half a pedia-lax suppository once or twice when he was really bad but otherwise we limited bananas and rice cereal, only gave oatmeal cereal with prunes and yogurt mixed in, and fed him lots of sweet potatoes. The premixed baby breakfast cereals with fruit digested better than the dry powder mixed at home. He had yogurt just about every day.

@BeachMama: it's called florababy. I get it on amazon. I put a scoop of powder in her yogurt every morning.

We had this problem. The only thing that helped was baby probiotics. Comes in a powder and you mix it into their bottle or food. We tried all the P fruits too. I must've been feeding her a whole pouch of prunes every day plus prune juice and nothing was working. Probiotics took a day or two to work and she has been mostly regular since. She is almost 10 months now And we started probiotics when she was around 7 months.

DS is 7.5 months. We started solids about 2 months ago. He's never been super excited about food and really doesn't eat that much. For the past month though he's been pretty constipated, with little hard poops. I've tried giving him prunes, pears, peaches, peas, spinach and pear juice (all recommended by the nurse at my ped's office). I've also tried warm baths and using the rectal thermometer. Nothing seems to help. He has been pooping more often the past few days but they're still pretty solid, and he cries and strains when he tries to go.

All this is to ask.....what else would you do? Should I take him into the doctor? Any other constipation remedies I can try?
