@macintosh: my daughter was on coconut milk and severely constipated. We switched to cows milk and the problem immediately stopped. I wonder if coconut water is different...

My DS is constipated a lot so he gets prune juice daily per his ped.

@nana87: if coconut water works I will love you forever! It's got up have less sugar than prune juice and it won't stain. I'll have to try it!

Gerber makes little bottles of apple and prune juice that we kept on hand when LO had trouble with constipation. Peaches and pears are good too. And PPs have good ideas too. :)

DS loves prunes, raisins, and granola- if you are worried those help keep him regular. He's gone a few days without pooping, but I usually up his dried fruit if it seems like it has been too long.

I wouldn't worry, but I'd push water and fruit (pears, prunes, etc). My daughter has gone a day or two without pooping and it can be harder or more painful when she goes. We explained that drinking water helps, and she just needs a reminder now!

@Meowkers: give lots of fresh fruit--pears, oranges, blueberries. And there's also a natural baby constipation medicine by Mommy's bliss brand--it's basically a prune concentrate, but my LO won't drink prune juice, so giving her 5 ml concentrate from a medicine dropper is easier to get down. It takes a few doses to get things going, though.

My DS loves bananas and sometimes insists on eating several daily! So it was no surprise when he would occasionally get constipated.
We started giving him a few prunes with lunch/dinner and he loves them! Keeps him 'regular' :-)

I make pancakes with flaxseed meal in it (about a tablespoon of the flaxseed to a thing of batter) and it produces a poop within about 12 hours.

Lo is periodically constipated and she loves prunes, so we give her that sometimes. But recently, I randomly gave her a little coconut water and she LOVED it, and her poops were crazy afterwards! I had no idea it was a (natural) laxative, lol

I wouldn't worry, but I would try to add some foods that will help. I mixed pureed prunes with applesauce and my daughter liked it. I have also had a lot of luck with mandarin oranges that come packaged in 100% fruit juice. We like the Dole brand.

My 16 month old hasn't pooped in two days. She usually poops twice a day. At what point should I worry? And what can I give her to help her poop (natural). I was thinking some prune juice or pureed prunes but I'm honestly not sure she'll want to drink/eat that.
