We're dealing with a pretty bad case now, with some success, but have to stay on top of it or the problem comes right back. The doctor told us to avoid apples and bananas, and push high-fiber veggies like radish and celery (very hard to do with a toddler, but we're trying to put them in soup and other places where they're less likely to stand out). We got DS's favorite juice that he'll drink two cups at every meal. We also had a talk with DS about needing to go every day so his tummy won't hurt, and at some point had to bribe him with toys to try because he needed extra encouragement.

Warm water helps if they will drink it. Agree to limiting bananas.

Good luck!

Probiotics, limiting bananas, rice, apples, and dairy, and drinking lots of water. DS is 35 pounds, so we aim for half that every day, about 17 ounces.

My preschooler takes a teaspoon of miralax every day. We've tried everything else but this is what works best for her, especially with her only being potty trained for less than a year.

I think you should try this Digestic by Mimonis which is an herbal supplement that is very good in relieving constipation. It was very effective to my son when he was constipated. I think this will help other child too.

For those of you who deal with preschoolers constipation what are your tips? we already push lots of water, eat fruits, give juice when really bad, prunes when i can force them down, but we still have hard poop. We were on Miralax but i think diet change worked better than it did but still use it when necessary. Give me your maybe out of the box tips!
