And we have relief! :) She's a different toddler right now.

@tororojo: I'm going to continue with the prune juice, so thanks. But yes, the suppository was instantaneous relief for her.

I was just reading about this today in Baby 411...they recommend a tsp of prune juice or karo syrup at each feeding to help pull water into the stool if constipation is an ongoing problem. Maybe that could help for the time being since she's been having trouble for a couple of weeks? (I can't see that working as fast as a suppository, though)

We have had a lot of these issues. Miralax can take a day or two--for instant help, glycerin pediatric suppositories. I used regular KY with it to help it go in easier.

@MamaMoose: Agreed. Or the thermometer up there usually does the trick for us.

@mrsjazz: for immediate relief, a suppository can really help. We used them twice in emergencies...

I'd also start Miralax to help things along!

This happened to us a couple of times. I would suggest calling your pediatrician and asking about a suppository. We bought it for LO but didn't end up having to use it.

Get a baby suppository. It should work right away.

ETA: If I remember correctly you're not working at the moment? I would pick her up early and do the suppository if she's in obvious pain.

We've never had an issue with constipation, my LO usually poops once a day. In the past 2 weeks she has been constipated. She hasn't gone since Saturday. I looked at the constipation posts and she definitely has those Type 1 hard poops when it finally does come out.

Her nanny just texted me, LO is crying and miserable because she can't poop and it hurts too much. I think she's constipated because 1) she hasn't been drinking as much water (even when offered) 2) she's on iron supplements 3) she's been more picky about what she eats lately.

Does anyone know of anything I can do right now to help her poop? I may go pick her up early from the nanny. She's been drinking prune juice, I've done tummy massages, warm baths. I hate seeing her in pain :(
