Thanks all. I totally think we should put things on pause but DH and I are dead-locked on this matter. LO still is a bit under the weather and bedtime has been a struggle. Any advice on what to say to DH to help convince him that we should hold off for now?

Our DS has a cold now and last night woke up 6 times (ugh!!!). So I've been getting up and giving him the extra attention and affection he needs while sick. I agree with the rest of the lot: hold off until LO's feeling better. Good luck!

Yep I agree, hold off till feeling better. We did sleep training and LO will fight it when she is sick. When children are sick they need to be comforted and not trained IMO.

I'm not a fan of CIO, but I can't imagine doing it with a baby who had true needs from a cold on top of everything else.

I agree with the pps . . . and would postpone the ST until LO feels better.

I would take a break. If he for some reason regresses badly afterward, at least you're only a couple days in.

I would definitely put the sleep training on hold until LO is feeling better/doesn't have a fever. When babies are sick they sometimes need extra snuggles and what not, and even if I knew lo was fed, clean, and just needed to go to sleep- if she was crying I wouldn't know whether it was just because she was learning how to fall asleep on own or if it was because she was feeling horrible and needed me. I imagine if he is sick, sleep might be rough for a few days anyways and he might regress a bit.

@Pink Champagne: even if already trained, the kids would often regress when sick!

I personally wouldn't sleep train a baby with a fever!

We started doing Sleep Sense the other night. Things were going ok for the first two nights, but now LO is sick with a fever (~102) and DH thinks we should continue to sleep train as though nothing happened. It includes some CIO, although you're allowed to reassure them and stay in the room.
I think we should stop until LO is better( DH disagrees. It's hard enough to let LO cry without adding in that he probably feels like crap. What do you all think?
