Thanks everyone <3 they were able to get the contractions to stop around 2 am and I was discharged early this am. Hoping they continue to stay gone! I think I may have had a couple though....it's harder to tell without the nice little image on the monitor screen!

@Mrs. Lion: I just wanted to add that I went into preterm labor at 27 and 30 weeks, at 27 they gave me a steroid shot and put me on a magnesium sulfate drip for 48 hours. It helped a lot, I ended being induced at 40 + 1!! They put me on moderate bed rest until 36 weeks, so you might want to be prepared for that. Good thoughts headed your way, feel free to ask me any questions that you may have

Just a friendly psa that you should trust your instincts and call your ob if you are even slightly concerned. After an uneventful day yesterday I am currently in l&d with contractions that are 2 minutes apart. They are giving me meds to stop them and I haven't dilated at all, but I thought I would throw that out there in case anyone comes across this thread in a search later on. Fingers crossed that this all passes soon and baby girl stays put at least 5 more weeks!

Assuming that the weird feelings are actually contractions, after how many/how frequently would you call your ob if it continues today?

@Mrs. Lion: Considering you went into labor only 4-ish weeks from now with Little Lion, I totally agree with @Mrs Green Grass: . There's no harm in at least calling your OB and see if they want you to go it and get checked. Good luck!

I have no advice on breech/anterior placenta etc, but it's always better to take everything seriously. I know no one wants to go to l&d for what may be no reason, but it's better to know for sure and get a professional opinion. GL!

I had a anterior placenta with my first and never had BH. When early labor started it was crampy and I for sure felt it and was very different from movements. When real labor started it was timeable.

With my second I did not have a anterior placenta but did get BH and they also felt different from movements. I was induced with my second but once they broke the water and labor started there was no denying it!

Don't doubt yourself! I'm sure you will know when it's the real deal.

@Mrs. Lion: I literally turned into a crazy person the last 4 weeks of my pregnancy. We were in L+D 4 times, and each time I tried to make them go away before we went in. Each time I got hooked up to the monitors, and it was a false alarm. So, so defeating. When I finally went into real labor, I decided that I was making my contractions prove they weren't going away before I paid them any heed. It seemed to work, because I showed up at the hospital at a 6.

Hang in there, Mama. The end is so hard.

I had BH contractions throughout a lot of my pregnancy, and they felt like my stomach was tightening up (but mostly just towards the bottom), and the bottom half of my stomach would get hard to the touch. Not painful, just pretty uncomfortable. For about 24-48 hours before I actually went into active labor, they started to get more intense and it was my whole stomach tightening up, not just the bottom part. It went all the way up to my ribcage and I felt like I was out of breath. Still not really painful, just super uncomfortable. I asked my doctor about it at my 39 week appointment (the day before I went into labor) and she said those would be considered real contractions.

I had them about ever 15-30 minutes the entire night before I went into labor, then that next morning I was woken up at 2:30 or so with what was clearly very real, very painful contractions!

I'd say if it's still mostly in your lower abdomen, they're probably just BH. Especially if they go away/lessen in frequency if you sit down and rest.

@Mrs. Lion: I had an anterior placenta and contracted for 4 weeks, so I had a really hard time telling what was "real" and what wasn't. When things got going, though, I felt nauseous and like my period was coming, as opposed to the pain and pressure I had felt before.

Contractions (even BH) should cause your entire uterus to tighten. If you sort of poke around a little when you have that feeling it should be pretty evenly tight throughout your belly. That sounds ridiculous, but that's what I used to do :)

No experience because I never felt anything I couldn't identify as a kick OR contraction, but if I were you I'd maybe go in for monitoring just to be safe. I mean at 30 weeks you've probably met your deductible for this year anyways right? ;) And better to have some peace of mind.

This seems like such a ridiculous question to ask, but how can you tell the difference between contractions and pressure/movement. Baby girl is breech and I have an anterior placenta, so movements are pretty tough to discern sometimes. I've felt lots of pressure today, mostly in my lower abdoman. Some was painful and crampy feeling, and some just felt tight like I would imagine Braxton hicks would feel, but I'm wondering if maybe I'm just feeling her push outward and I can't tell because the placenta is in the way?

I'm 30 weeks and on the lookout for signs of preterm labor because lo1 was a preemie. I don't want to overreact but I've had this feeling at least once or twice an hour for most of the day. I have been told not to labor at home at all because I had a previous c section and this baby is breech too. These feelings aren't following any sort of pattern though and most aren't painful, so I'm not too concerned....but I'm wondering if I should be. Anybody have some input or experience??
