I didn't have any contractions with my first until I went into labor. I started having Braxton Hicks contractions with my second around 30 weeks or so. I would have about 4 an hour at least once a day. My water ended up breaking at 37 weeks, but I doubt it had much to do with contractions (though what do I know!) Now that I'm pregnant with my third I have been having Braxton Hicks contractions for the last few weeks, and I only just reached 27 weeks 2 days today.

When I have a Braxton Hick contraction it seems to start low and then my whole belly gets hard, no squishiness at all. It lasts for a 30 seconds or so, and then my belly returns to normal. I have wondered, especially with how early I am with this pregnancy, if it was the baby just moving, but I don't think so.

This may be a silly question, but I am kind of on alert for contractions these days since I have been having more and it is too early for that! And, I know I am a 2nd time mom, but I didn't have contractions until I went into labor with DS and let's be honest, I don't really remember all that very well!

Were there times that you felt like the way baby moved made your whole belly hard like a contraction? Or was it always a contraction?

When you had a contraction was your stomach so hard and tight that you couldn't press on it at all?

Sometimes I can't tell if baby is just pressing out against me really hard or if I am really having a contraction and I don't know how to count it. If I have more than 5-6 in 2 hours my midwife wants me to call in, and I got pretty close tonight.
