We haven't repainted in my new house and a lot of the trim in the living area is still dark wood from the 70s. We're painting all our trim the same white to make our lives easier. I think white is the safest choice, and it is easier to change the paint color on the walls as opposed to all the detail work involved with painting trim. I might do that when we get around to repainting. We've got friends who have black baseboards in the entrance and it looks really good against the white walls and wood floors. It looks a lot fresher but I've noticed a few things about the white trim. </p> <p>Unless youre getting really high quality baseboard trim, any bumps show as brown easily. Also general dirt shows. Lastly, as trim has shifted and weve had cracks, you see the black shadow of the crack really easily and we have to caulk more often. Our neighbors did navy blue doors and trim. It sounds weird but it looks pretty sharp!
