@Becky: This is something I definitely didn't think about so it could be a great option for my car - if she'll give it up that is! She likes her seat so we shall see if she will share.

@catgirl: @Ms. RV: The seat depth front to back is the big concern for DH's car so that is great to know about the SlimFit. My car has more room there, but we really only use it for long drives.

Thinking I may do the SlimFit for DH's car due to the depth. In my car, I will either pass down the Diono and get DD1 a new high back booster, or look for a different convertible that is not quite as expensive for DD2 where space is not critical. Might even move the Diono to DH's car for two slimmer width seats and that may solve the issue we have where we can't fit a third when friends are riding along.

Thanks!!

We have RXs and the newer 3RXTs, they are identical other than styling and the harnessing tightening no longer ratchets. Still tanks. We have 3 kids in midsize suvs so that is why we stuck with them. Although my 4 yo has outgrown the seat 🤦🏻‍♀️, height wise, never expected that. Does not seem likely that you would be faced with that. I was disappointed since I expected the seat to last until he was mature enough for a booster.

Not familiar with Graco so no help there.

I have a SlimFit for LO #2 and will be getting a second for LO #3 when he is ready to be out of the bucket. It isn't super slim, but it is the slimmest and least deep I was able to find with a no re-thread harness. I used to have to do three across which is why I went with SlimFit originally, but now I just really like the seat.

Depending on the age of you Diono and how long you hope to rear face, it could make sense to pass it down. I think a rear facing Diono would need the angle adjuster to fit in a Honda Fit (if you need to use the seat in front of it).

I'm not a huge fan of Diono's - lots of quirky rules that have changed quite a few times over the year, the limits are generally overstated, and it has a finicky install. That said, the graco slimfit is not super slim. It can have issues with three across due to it's overall shape, especially since graco doesn't allow it to overlap/share any space with another seat. The graco would be more compact front to back though. The slimfit also has a no re-thread harness which is my preference.

Would you consider moving DD1 to a high back booster and handing down the Diono?

I've been reading too many threads, sites, and reviews to think about this straight :silly:

DD2 needs to move to a RF convertible seat like yesterday. For DD1 we got a Diono Radian RXT and at a petite 7yrs she is STILL in it FF. Since they no longer sell the same model, I'm torn between the Diono Radian 3RX and the Graco SlimFit.

We've had such a great experience with the Diono - it's a tank (pros and cons there itself) but has such a long lifespan. However, DH has a Honda Fit and he is the primary driver so while that car is surprisingly roomy I am still concerned about the space. The SlimFit seems smaller and I like the flip out cup holders and additional supports.

Both seem narrow enough to still fit a third booster for when DD1 has friends ride along with us (whenever that happens again).

Anyone have experience with the newer Diono 3RX and/or the SlimFit to share?

Thanks!
