We're looking at getting the Combi! DS is still in a booster & we'll probably have another lo on the way before P is out of the convertible so space is a huge factor! Figure we can just keep & use it for the next one when P graduates to a booster.... Had I found it before we would've just skipped the infant seat altogether. Oh well.

@MamaCate: You're right, all Britax are the same size. That's good to know when shopping around!

@caffeinated: we have two small cards, a honda civic and toyota corolla and had the same concern. we ended up getting two britax seats and have been really happy with them. We had to move the passenger seat up slightly but it is still comfortable for a taller person. We have a pavilion and a roundabout and they have been great, the roundabout is for the back up car that does less transporting of LO.

BRU will let you try them in your car, and even though they only carry the marathon all the britax seats appear to have the same dimensions per amazon. So, we went and tried the marathon at the store, then came back and ordered on amazon...

We only have LATCH on the two sides, not in the center, so the seats are installed behind the passenger seat. Hope that helps!

We have this one, we haven't used it yet because LO isn't old enough but I was impressed with it's size because I didn't want a huge car seat. The price was right too.

@allison: We have a sedan with a large backseat. In the center the Radian is still too long. Try before you buy! It's really big.

I have a Jeep Liberty, which has a really small back seat. We're planning to get the Diono Radian and put it rear-facing in the center so it doesn't affect the front seats. After baby is a year old, you can get an angle adjuster that goes underneath the seat and changes the angle enough to give you more room. To me, the Diono seems like the best deal, long-term, because you don't have to buy another one! If I was a couple inches shorter, I could even fit in it.

I have the combi coccoro and love it. Yes it's not going to last as long as a radian or one of the Britain behemoths, but it is a cinch to install and travel with. When we bought it we didn't own a car, and now it fits in our Mazda 3 great. If you can afford to splurge a high recommend.

If you're still rear-facing, the Diono probably isn't going to fit. It's super tall. But it's awesome, and what we're going to get when we have a bigger car. Britax seats are fairly compact and fit well into a variety of cars. The Combi Coccoro is known for being the convertible seat for small cars.

@caffeinated: Gotcha, yeah this particular Graco is probably too big then.

A friend of mine has a smaller car, and just went forward facing at one year so they could make the car seat fit.

Like an Impreza? We have a Forester and fit a Graco My Ride 65 ($150) in there, not sure how your back seats compare in size? It is a bigger carseat, but I'd be happy to take a photo of our setup if you are interested.

@NYCaliMama: Ooh good to know. Thanks! Ughh, why is it $239 on Amazon.com but $320 in Canada? I hate Canadian prices!

Diono Radian RXT... one of the most narrow carseats on the market! It also exceeds many safety standards and has a high weight maximum for rear-facing.

But definitely try out different carseats in your car before buying... The most safe carseat is the one that fits in your particular car the best.
