We love our Foonfs, but the only reason we bought a second is because L (same age as A) is still RFing, and I didn't want to turn her yet. The reason the seat was worth the investment to me in the first place was so she could extended RF. If I were you, I'd pass down the convertible and buy a harness-to-booster since he's already FF.

@mrsjyw: I would get a Diono seat (which converts to a backed booster) for DS1 and move DS2 to the convertible.

We have, and really like, the Clek Fllo. It's slightly smaller and lighter than the Foonf, but has the same limits. I like how high he sits and he seems quite comfortable. The expiration is some of the longest I've seen, too.

We're doing the exact thing that others are suggesting. My DS is 3 and about to outgrow his Britax Advocate. So we're moving my 7 mo. DD into the Advocate and are buying him a Britax Frontier.

@mrsjyw: I would do the same as PP said, pass them down and get a harnessed booster from DS1. Convertible car seats last like 7-8 years, so you should be good to go for awhile for DS2. Britax Pioneer is another one.

@mrsjyw: Yes, the Britax Frontier is a great combination seat with high weight and height limits. Other options would be the Graco Nautilus, Graco Tranzitions, or Britax Pioneer if weight/height isn't as much of a concern.

Britax has various expiration dates depending on your exact model, so definitely something to check.

@mrsjyw: Yes, exactly. They're sometimes called Harness to Booster seats.

I followed Mrs. Milk's advice and got the Evenflo Symphony. Love it, so easy to install and adjust. I've used my friend's Britax and don't like it as much.

@catgirl: @looch: would that be something like the Britax Frontier?

DS has used the carseats since about 5/6 months old, so their pretty worn but I don't think they expire for another few years, so definite possibility.

If your older son is forward facing already I would pass his convertible seats down and get new combination seats for him, personally.

We are in the market for convertible carseats for DS2 and looking for recs on the current carseats.

DS1 is in a Britax Pavilion and Advocate. He's almost 40 lbs at just over 3 yo. I'd like something similar but maybe not as bulky. Also would like to keep DS2 rearfacing until at least 2 and sizewise he's following his big bro's footsteps...

Any recommendations? I'm currently looking at Clek Foonf, Diono Radian RXT, etc.

ETA: I currently drive an expedition and will likely get an SUV of similar size in the coming months.
