The document I was looking at (from Britax) said we have to do the Australian way (over the top of the seat to the back of the seat it's installed on, or the Swedish way (from the back of the carseat to an anchor on the floor). Since we don't have floor anchors, we'd be limited to the Australian method.</p> <p>I'll have to do some more research. I only happened on the new tethering rule for new Britax seats on Saturday when I was looking up all the height/weight limits for the seats we're considering.</p> <p>Thanks everyone for all your input. Love that I can keep my tall LO RF longer in this seat. The low profile makes it easier to put him in (which is important at his age -- almost 3.) It was pretty easy. I have read, though, that RF tethering is debated. It may actually be better for there to be some give. Love this. The quality if PERFECTION and it is very sleek. Also, it has a very high RF limit. I love, love, love it. Did I mention the leather trim? ;)<br /> We actually toyed with the idea of a Chicco Nextfit for my car, but omg, it is a mammoth. Like huge (in comparison to the PP which had the same ERF limits and looks much more sleek). </p> <p>Husband's sport's car: Combi Cocorro. We got this because it is marketed as a small car seat for small cars. He has a 4-seater bucket seat car. So this was perfect. He says it is smaller than our Britax infant seat was. It RF until 33lbs, which isn't the highest by any means, but my LO is 18m and only 26lbs, so I am 100% sure we'll make it to 2+ years old. Also, it is all one color, very plain and cute, no frilly/tacky stuff going on. </p> <p>My mom's car: I didn't want to get another $300 car seat (Peg Perego) for my mom's car only because she uses it maybe 2x a month. So, I got her the 1st Years TRUTFIT. Pretty good RF limit and it is very cute. It is a little on the big side, but she has a Honda Pilot and it looks like she has space in there (wouldn't be the case in my JEEP).</p> <p>My MIL: I haven't bought it yet, but we're getting the Britax Marathon for her. If you call Chicco, they walk you through the instructions for changing the shoulder pads on the straps. It is super stylish and seems very comfy for LO. It was easy to install with latch and is VERY secure in the car--seems much sturdier than our other seat, a safety 1st guide 65. It's very easy to adjust the harness. It's also high, so LO can see out the window. He seems happy in it! Only a handful of times and no complaints so far. It is a bit big for our car since it is rear facing on the passenger side, so the front passenger is pretty cramped. But we are planning on getting a bigger car soon. One thing I liked about it before I bought it was that it is so high up that LO can see out the back window. And the few times I have used it, I forgot to bring him toys to entertain him and he has been fine. He sits quietly and looks out the window. even points at the other cars. He seems comfortable. It is easy to strap him (better than my last bucket seat - britax b safe - where the straps were always getting twisted). We haven't gone long distance yet, so i don't how he will sleep in it yet, but i am not worried,.</p> <p>The only con so far is something i read in the reviews beforehand - the strap buckle at the crotch is really short. so far it is not an issue, but i can see why people complained. I think I read though that there will soon be an extension for it you can buy.</p> <p>Also it definitely good for ERF for small babies like ours! You probably know, but in Canada the ERF limit is 40 pounds, not 50 like in the US. When we had it installed by the police department they installed it for me to show me how, uninstalle itd, and then made me install on my own and inspected it. It really isn't difficult to do!
