@snowjewelz: I mean, we do have people over too, but I hate the idea of a room sitting around waiting to be used only for guests. We have a fold up table and if I need to I can set up a table, in the dining room, for our guests if I have that many people over! At least this way, the room is used on a daily basis.

We did exactly this! We don't use a formal dining room so it made sense to do this. Eventually, maybe it will become an office or something?? Has anyone thought about what it will be once the kids are too old for a playroom?

@snowjewelz: our kitchen has a table nook, and we don't need a formal dining room.

Following. We have a den and a living room. We only use the living room when we have people over, which isn't that often and we could use our den for seating instead. I want to convert out living room into a play room. Looking for ideas!

We did this! Our dining room sounds very similar to yours. I'm attaching some pictures to show you! One is a panoramic and in the other one it's showing you the view from the living room....and then there is a doorway on the right that goes into the kitchen!

We did in a different house when my first started to crawl. We lived in a house built in maybe 1950 or so. There was a big room when you walked in so we had half of that be the living room and the other half be the dining room. Then lo had her whole playroom off the kitchen. I loved doing it that way. We had a couple chairs in the playroom and made it comfy so it became another logging about area.

We have been planning on doing this for months. We have a large kitchen so there is no reason why we need a formal dinning room. the goal is to have it done before family gets here for Christmas. The toys are getting getting out of control. Their size grows as fast as she does.

I'm interested in this too! If we hadn't *just* invested in a decent dining room set I would absolutely do it.

I'm thinking of converting our dining room into a play room. It's right off of the kitchen and living room but it's party enclosed. This way it's still close by to the main part of the house but the toys are somewhat hidden.

Has anyone converted a room in their house to a playroom/. Would love to see pictures.
