@tororojo oh I'm sorry, I misread your post - I thought you were waffling between sewing yourself and hiring BellyJeans :) Yay for clearance!

@scg00387: I was thinking of using the etsy seller to convert a cheap (but cute) pair of jeans I already have--I am in no way qualified to sew anything! But actually I found a pair of skinny black maternity jeans on clearance, so my problem is solved! I have much respect for you talented ladies who can sew!

@tororojo I love sewing and have DIY'd a lot of maternity clothes but honestly I think it's worth it to just buy a pair of jeans unless you've sewed denim before & are comfortable with it. I haven't, and didn't want to buy denim needles, heavy duty thread, etc. and potentially ruin my pants on my first try; I didn't have any "junkers" to practice on. I've had great luck finding Gap & Old Navy maternity jeans at Goodwill for $4 or $5.

Just my 2 cents though!

I thought about it, but my regular jeans are getting tight in other places =\

I actually do sew, though, and I like this website for DIY inspiration and converting clothes into maternity: http://diymaternity.com/

This morning it occurred to me that if I were sewing savvy, I could potentially turn a pair of regular jeans into cute maternity jeans. I bought a stretchy pair of black skinny jeans right before I peed on a stick in June and it would be great to have them all winter long!

I googled and found lots of tutorials, as well as an etsy site that will take out the waist band of your regular jeans and add elastic. Feedback is pretty good; I'm wondering if anyone has experience with doing this? Maybe by the same seller (http://www.etsy.com/shop/BellyJeans), or have you done it yourself/do you know of anywhere else that might do a good job? She also has a web site, but I'd feel more comfortable going the etsy route.
