But we don't do smoothies. We do soups, sauces, and dips mostly. If it's mostly for pureeing soup then yes, an immersion blender will work. I just have a fairly cheap glass Hamilton beach blender and a kitchen aid immersion blender. Total $160 ish for both Canadian. Neither are fancy, but work great for me and what I use the for.
