@betsyboop: I did for the first time today and she's 7 months. But I simmered for a long time so it's practically a chunky purée. I pulled the chicken & carrots out and purées that chunky as well.
@caffeinated: she's had turkey, chicken and pork today!

I make all of her food, but it's mostly purees--her favorite two favorites right now are sweet potato/spinach and butternut squash/pear. She's also had sweet potato fries and pear slices.

I haven't given her meat yet, but I want to try some chicken soon.

We did baby led weaning so didn't do much purees. But my toddler still loves soup and rice like a typical Korean baby!

I thought I would make purées when it was time, but I haven't. I'm glad I didn't put in that effort, though, because he does not like purées much at all. He's basically just eating what I'm eating at this point. He does surprisingly well on real food. So I pretty much cook for him all the time.

@regberadaisy: Yeah, i'm so paranoid because she has bouts of bad constipation so i try to give her brown rice. :( I'm surprised by how receptive she is to non purees too...i find that i have to give her finger foods AFTER purees otherwise i can't get her to take food from the spoon. She loves peas!

What meats have you given her? (Sorry, i hope i'm not straying from the original topic)

Congee is such a good idea, I hadn't thought of that! May I ask when you started feeding your LO congee? My LO is 6 months and just started solids but so far we've only done purees and a couple fruits using the mesh feeder.

@caffeinated: ooh that sounds delish! I thought about using brown rice but wasn't sure how she would like it. Next time!
I break the Belgian waffles smaller than my pinky! Haha I'm paranoid. Not sure how much she actually ingests. We tend to find tons of food on her bum!
I have to say she's surprising is with how well she's doing with non purées. She hasn't gagged once yet!

Nice! I also have made everything for LO (our LOs are close apart in age). I've made chicken-kale-carrot-sweet brown rice congee (boil chicken thighs with garlic and ginger) and she loves it. I'll also roast veggies, and grate fruit for her yogurt or oatmeal.

That's amazing that she can eat the belgian waffles without any problems. How small are the pieces that you give her?

I'm so proud of myself! Before having kids I told myself I will make purées and such for my baby. But like lots of things I tend to say sometimes I don't follow through! But this, I have!

Not only have I made all her purées, I've also been canning for her (peaches & applesauce this far). Made her steel cut oats with applesauce for breakfast this morning and chicken carrots congee for dinner. I took 2 boobs and a carrot and simmered for 2 hrs to make stock then cooked the rice in the stock. Took out the chicken and carrots and chunky puréed and put it back into the congee. She loved both, as did I! My motto is if I won't eat it why would I serve it to my baby? She also loves Belgian waffles when I make them for breakfast!

She just turned 7 months so I've only been giving her solids for a month.

What have you made from scratch for your baby?
