@regberadaisy: I know in some Indian cuisine, it's used for raita, but I personally don't care for it.

What about searching for World Vegetarian by Madhur Jaffrey?

@looch: I know - that's what I was hoping for; a use in savory dishes. I know it's commonly used in Indian cooking, right?

I strain it (makes it thicker) and then add in honey and use it as a dressing for fruit salad.

I am at a loss for using it in savory recipes.

@Weagle: oh good idea for using it in lieu of flour for coating.

We don't eat sour cream!

Definitely in smoothies. We also use it as a dip - try 1/2 cup yogurt + 1/2 cup peanut butter and mix for veggie dip. It's divine.

I also use yogurt in place of sour cream (ie: taco night dishes), and use it in place of mayo in all of our picnic salad dishes - egg salad, chicken salad, pasta salad, etc.

More of a cold weather idea, but if you like creamy soups, add yogurt instead of cream! Also add curry powder or paste to yogurt and add to cooked chicken and apples. Yum!

Also use as a pasta sauce. Mix with olive oil and add yogurt at the end. Almost guilt free "cream" sauce.

We use it instead of sour cream, Greek yogurt is good in chicken salad, and I often is it to coat chicken and then dip in bread crumbs for baked "fried" chicken.

I use it to replace sour cream in most dishes that call for sour cream.

I also use it in baking, things wind up so moist! I have a yummy recipe for Irish brown bread that uses plain yogurt. Let me see if I can find it!

Mix it into pasta sauce to make it creamy - add it in after you remove the sauce from heat.

Add in a little lemon juice and use in place of sour cream on tacos.

How do you use yogurt in cooking?

We've been buying the big tub of plain yogurt and we can't finish it before it goes bad. So I thought a good way to use it up is in cooking.
