I buy open stock as well and I make sure all my saute pans and pots have a helper handle. I just can not manage with the main handle!

I really like the Cuisinart multi-clad as well.

Most of mine are Calphalon, but my very favorite pan is Sur La Table tri-ply stainless. It's similar to the All-Clad stainless but the handle is MUCH more comfortable. I'd love to replace some of my Calphalon ones with the SLT ones, but unfortunately they don't seem to be selling it open stick anymore, just as a set. But if the set had what you were looking for, I'd highly recommend it.

Edit: I take that back about open stock vs sets -- for awhile that was the case but I just looked at the website and you can buy pieces separately again! Woohoo!

Cuisinart multi clad! It's less $$ all clad. Very well rated by cooks illustrated.

I didn't get a set because I didn't want a lot of stuff in the set but...I have 2 really nice All Clad pots - 1.5 QT and 3.5 QT. Plus, I have Calphalon pans - 10" and 8". I use those all the time, too. :)

I would say you can't go wrong with Calphalon and All Clad. None of the pots and pans I have in those brands are non-stick. The All Clad are stainless and I'm not sure of the material of the Calphalon ones... Macy's is where we registered and got these from. :)

My cookware is on it's last legs and I am looking forward to getting a new set.
This set only lasted about 2 years, and I'm hoping for something with a little longer life. I've only ever used non-stick but looking to move away from this since I know it's not good for you.

I'm looking for something not too heavy, I have trouble lifting my mother in law's pans.

Bonus points if sold at Macy's since I'll be registering soon!
