@lemondrop: I bought 5lbs of those candies for my first pregnancy!

You guys are the best. I'm going to try some of these ideas.

@lemondrop: those look interesting. The thought of ginger has made me wretch recently, but I'm willing to try! And thanks :)

@travelgirl1: Coke ice cubes sound amazing. Totally trying that.

@BabyBoecksMom: I thought of you! The problem is, I am so hungry all the time that I really want to eat,but I always regret it almost instantly. Though, sourdough bread and raw green beans made me feel normal yesterday for about half an hour. So I promptly ate more, which ruined everything. But I had 30 minutes of bliss!

@jhd: @luckypenny: hoping you ladies can get some relief soon. I know it will pass eventually, but the thought of waiting another six weeks makes me (and at this point, DH) want to cry.

@erinpye: thank you lady. I hate that you know about this so well. I have become a fiber eating machine. It is starting to work, but man, is it painful when it doesn't. And bagels have been a definite salvation. I'm sure I will be revisiting your list often.

@swedishfish: I discovered last week that fried.foods and I are no longer friends, but I also am realizing that if it sounds good, I need t try it , at this point.

@loveisstrange: thanks for the suggestion. I've never heard of that. I wonder if it works for nausea, too. I'll definitely look it up.

@FutureMrsMcK: @tysonja: @skibobrown: @googly-eyes: thank you so much. Just trying to ride it out as best I can.

@CatyLady: thank you! Good luck to you! Nausea is how I knew.

Ok, taking advantage of my last day of summer by sleeping as much as possible. Thanks for helping me remember that I'm not nuts. :)

My neighbor takes Phenergan for her extreme nausea. It has some strong drowsy side effects sometimes but she said it really helped when she had hypermesis with her first pregnancy. She was vomiting like every 30 minutes before her doctor prescribed it.

I don't know much about it, but it might be worth doing some research and taking to your doctor?

I was able to eat fast food French fries and occasionally chicken nuggets from McDonalds, Burger King, and Wendy's at night. I had a lot of cinnamon rolls for breakfast. I could eat normally from lunchtime until about 4 PM so that's when I'd have my healthy meal of the day.

I'm so so sorry. It's really hard to hear things from well-meaning people who suggest things that don't work for severe cases (hypremesis) like "small frequent meals, sea bands, acupuncture, etc." when you're this ill. I'm 16 weeks with my 2nd and still very sick. Zofran, for me, is also no magic bullet and just helps me vomit a little less often- extreme, often debilitating nausea is left untouched. I was also very ill with my first, and the good news is it abated by 18 weeks. Zofran can back you up horribly, especially if water tastes terrible to you or makes you sick, as it does me, but if you take colace every day (pregnancy safe, but of course talk about it with your OB), eat Fiber 1 cereal in the AM, and try to get some fluids and fruit in your body (kiwis are a great one), it will make a HUGE difference. I completely stopped my Zofran a few weeks ago because the backup was so bad, but when the vomiting returned full-force, I had no option but to go back on it. The methods I mentioned really have made a world of difference.

As far as what to eat and drink- I also prefer cold drinks and drink coke maybe every day or every other. It's not ideal, but when I had to go in for an IV due to dehydration, my doc said sip coke all day long if you need to- drink whatever you can. Sipping coconut water is really hydrating. I drank Gatorade for about 6 weeks straight earlier on in my pregnancy and it actually tasted ok. Cold things like slurpees and popsicles are good because they will settle your stomach for a little bit. Food wise, eat absolutely anything that doesn't make you want to puke just thinking about it. Bland foods like plain bagels with cream cheese, mac and cheese, soup, milkshakes, even stuff that's not all that "healthy." Whatever you can get down. I can't stand them this time, but with my first pregnancy I ate chicken nuggets from McDonald's often (don't normally touch the things). Just do your best, little mama, and try to remember it will pass. I do know how difficult and even depressing being this ill can be, but it will get better. Sending you big hugs.

Oh I'm sorry lady! Luckily I haven't thrown up yet but I can barely eat too. I'm just drinking ginger ale and water and wait until something sounds appetizing and then eat as much as I can handle. If I try to eat when I'm sick it just makes it worse.

@lemondrop: They look good, I had the urge to try some ginger yesterday or at least sniff some but didn't I had no energy at all. Is it the developing that causes the sickness?

I was like that too but I didn't vomit, just had intense nausea that made it really hard for me to even leave the house. Cooler temps made it more tolerable, as did zofran and somewhat ginger ale, but nothing really cured it... It was difficult. :/

I totally know what you're going through. I was on Zofran for my entire pregnancy, but the first trimester was absolutely the worst. Pretty much every moment of every day I felt like I had the worst hangover of my life. It was really hard to do anything but lay on the couch and wonder when I was going to feel better. It did eventually, slowly, start to get better, but those days at the beginning were miserable :-(

I'm right there with you...only 2 weeks behind so I haven't been dealing with it nearly as long as you have. :( I can't eat very much at a time. I don't have any advice but will be sending thoughts and prayers your way. I know how intense grad school schedules are and I hope you can get some relief soon.

I'm so sorry, but I'm right there with you. The only thing I have found is to eat A LOT. As long as I'm stuffed, I'm ok. I also noticed that the nausea is worse when I'm tired so I take naps in my car on my lunch break.

I'm so sorry. I had horrendous sickness and the best thing I dud for myself was to start eating food that was easy to bring back uo, like hello and ice cream. I learned what tasted gross to throw up and avoided that. Smoothies would help, and I'd get a protein shot in them to help me feeling full for longer. If coke helps, maybe freeze some in ice cube trays then suck them through the day. I used to nibble chocolate protein bars too, again to keep that full feeling. Ultimately stronger meds from the doctors in combination with Diclectin and Gravel helped control it but didn't stop it altogether. Oh and avoiding hot showers helped, lukewarm was much better. Hope you feel better soon!

These have been lifesavers for me, I wish I had them last time around! It takes the nausea away for agood 20-30 minutes! I know they are on Amazon, but I find them at a local market (Fresh & Easy) I haven't checked Whole Foods or Trader Joes.

ps- sounds encouraging that the little plum is making you feel bad, grow baby grow!

I need your help, bees. I'm pretty sure I'm losing it.

I'm 7+5 today, and I feel rotten. I had had awful nausea pretty much non-stop since 7dpo, so for about 4 weeks, but the intensity, and the vomiting, has really picked up in the last week. Mostof the day, I feel like I am walking around in a daze, which is a problem, because I start back to work this week. I think I need some new coping strategies.

I'm already on b6 twice a day, once at night, and once in the morning. I take half a unisom every night and one Zofran every morning. I can't take more than that, though, because it backs me up terribly. I eat small meals and snack a lot. I've tried carbs, protein, fruit, veggies, ginger, and sour. Citrus seems to work a bit, as does anything cold, like Icees, carbonated, or sour. I drink a bit of Coke every day, which gives me some relief, decaf mint tea at night, and tons of water during the day.

Problem is, nothing really helps relieve the nausea; everything just makes it slightly more tolerable. The Zofran keeps me functional, but it is not a magic pill for me. I am having a really hard time figuring out what to eat. Cold watermelon was working for a while, but that all came back up yesterday. Meat and eggs sound awful. Cheese sounds ok in tiny doses, and so do corn tortilla chips, but that's not enough. Pasta and rice are sometimes tolerable, bread is usually OK.

Wow, that was a novel. Any ideas/help/suggestions/commiseration would be appreciated!! Thank you!!
