My OB helped us find the right contact person at the university hospital (not where i delivered). They just gave us several big collection tubes and my doc just filled them from the umbilical cord after it had been cut to LO but before the placenta delivered. Then the contact person picked it up from us the next day. I recently found out there are places, like Duke, who collect and store cord blood for free. I'm still researching what goes into collecting the blood but I'm interested so far. </p>
