I use my phone for an alarm clock and set it to vibrate. I keep it right next to me, so it's enough to wake me up without disturbing my son.

I use the alarm on my phone and turn it off right away.. well actually snooze it and sometimes it goes off multiple times. I found the volume of my ringer effects the volume of the alarm (iPhone), so I keep ringer volume low. DH doesn't set an alarm. Usually he hears mine or I wake him up.

We cosleep with baby in the napper in between. The Mr uses his phone alarm and is good at getting to it immediately. It has not disturbed our sleep (YET).

DH uses his phone & keeps it pretty quiet.. it's right by his head so he hears it relatively quick. Also, P has gotten used to it so she generally sleeps through it. We sleep to ocean sounds too though so it's not a dramatic silence to buzzing alarm, which might have alot to do with it. lol

I use my phone as my alarm clock, and keep it under my pillows. Never had an issue when we were bed sharing, which lasted about 2 months after I went back to work. And it was fine when we moved DS into a crib in the same room after that. I'm glad my husband stays at home, though. If he had to get up to an alarm you can bet it would be on long enough to wake everyone up. He moves so slowly!

@wheres_c: its on his side if the bed- I'd have to flop over him to get at it. I think adding it to my side might be the way to go- I can fall back asleep, baby won't once she is up in the morning, and once she's up she will not be happy until she's eating.

I was just wondering about this while laying in bed this morning! I'll be going back to work, but while i'm on maternity leave DH will have to get up and go to work, and LO will be in our room until I have to go back to work myself. He can sleep through anything, so I would have to have the alarm near me and wake him up without waking baby up

@Foodnerd81: yes! You should keep it close to you! We have the same issue. Usually he stops his phone alarm before she hears it. Its really frustrating though to lose that extra few minutes :-(

@rahlyrah: oh but moms are way faster at turning off any sound than dads. He had barely even heard it by the time baby was full on crying. I'm thinking it would be better for me to have it in my side since I wake up at the slightest sound.

We found some nice alarms that kinda slowly start off so its not as jarring. We usually can reach for it fast enough to turn it off before it gets too loud.

Haha everything I post is under baby sleep these days!

If you cosleep (room or bed) what do you do about an alarm clock? C sleeps in the RnP at the foot of our bed. As she is sleeping longer, her wake up times are ever so slowly moving later. Except this morning we were all sleeping soundly when dh's alarm went off, waking me and the baby while Dh slowly woke up to turn it off! And now of course we are all up for the day.

So if you share a room and only one of you has to get up for work what do you do about an alarm? I'm sure she would have slept another 20-30 minutes and we all know you do not take half an hour of sleep from a mom and baby!
