@MOMTOLITTLEB: We aren't expecting until February and I plan to breastfeed, but last time had to supplement around 9 months. I had just seen the formula in this week's ad, which made me think of it.

For those who don't need special formula, it might be worth checking out the new Aldi formula that is (or will be) coming out. Whenever we are faced with moving to formula next year, I definitely want to see how it is and how the price compares.

We get through about 1.5 boxes of Hipp Organic formula per week, at £8.50 a box. So about £51 per month. Starts going down once they are well established on solids.

My babies are on either Similac Neosure or Enfamil Enfacare, so each small can is $17-18. With coupons or buying in bulk on Amazon, I can get it down to $12-13 a can. Contact your similac or enfamil rep to get samples shipped to you.

I think I figured out it was $0.25-$0.50 a bottle at one time. It made me think formula wasn't that expensive. Breastfeeding didn't work out for me. Formula works for me.

Oh, at the peak, I was using a full can every 3-4 days. So I guess if I had no coupons, I was spending $360 a month for twins. No regrets here. Babies needed to be fed and preemie formula it is. Sucked that each baby had their own formula but I do what I can to make sure they are happy and eating. For my son, Enfamil formula gave him less gas.

I do about half formula, half breast milk. I use Enfamil Gentease. I usually go through a packet a week, or two refill boxes a month, so about $60 a month, assuming I'm using a coupon, which I usually do.

DS was on Alimentum from about 4/5 weeks until he was a year. At his peak intake I think we went through one can every 4 days. It was $30/can so roughly $225 or so a month?
Gosh it feels so long ago!

@DesertDreams88: I stopped nursing when I went back to work at 12 weeks and we have been using the regular Similac Advanced every since. I get a super large canister from Amazon about once a week, maybe every 9-10 days. It's $39. DS is 8.5 months and eats maybe 25 ounces a day.

We used the Costco brand which is made by similac, and it was 18/week like 72 a month at the height of her appetite. Can't recommend store brand enough, it's really all identical if there's not a special type of formula needed, and it's sooo much less expensive.

$100 on soy formula. We did soy formula from 8 months on because he was having so many spit up issues. Soy formula's not cheap, neither is the hypoallergenic formulas either. Thankfully, he can handle cow's milk alright. Now, we spend about $8-10 a week on two gallons of milk for two boys.

DS1 went to formula at 10 months and we used Honest Company. He only drank 20-24oz a day at that point so it was 4 tubs a month, so $120.

This baby has been supplementing with like every sample and random formula we have and he's been fine (his brother was really sensitive). We are about to start supplementing with a tub of Costco brand formula. My doctor friend recommended it and it's like $16.99 for a huge tub.

Ug, it's expensive. My newest son is a tank and is eating close to 35-40 oz/ day. I can still pump 1 bottle a day. We use Earth's Best organic, which costs $28/ can at Target online. We use that in about a week or less. We spend at least $120 a month.

For DS1 we used ready to pour Similac, which was a little more expensive.

We use Similac Sensitive for our dairy sensitive baby. He gets formula at daycare only five days a week. So far every four weeks we will spend $230 on the Ready to Feed 32 oz bottlesb we buy it through Amazon Prime. Right now it's doable, but we may change to concentrate to save money.

We feed Target brand formula (yellow top) and at the height of DD eating, we went through almost one box a week at a cost of about $23. We would wait for a sale and stock up so it was even cheaper. I really didn't think it was that bad. Now that she's on solids we're going through less.

In addition to my original post - LO has had Enfamil formula 7 times and seem to tolerate it just fine, though it was a bit scattered - three times in the first month of life and 4 times during month 6. He doesn't seem to have any dietary intolerances except for not seeing my breast milk. We have like 6 or 7 sample formula cans?

About $115/month for Earth's Best Organic Sensitive from Amazon, and worth every penny. :-)

I will say, we started out using the Target knockoff of Similac Sensitive and it was fine too, and less $. Then I decided I should probably get organic since we do mostly organic meat and dairy for the rest of the family, but that's just my craziness.

I'm a huge fan of formula-feeding. My husband and I split the feedings, kids gain great, and so far, both are totally happy and healthy (DS1 is almost 4 yrs and DS2 is 8 months - both were EFF after the first couple months).

Our son has 5 bottles, 6 oz each per day (plus some solids). He's been on this schedule for the last three months (currently 6 months) and our total cost in formula is about $125/month with coupons. It definitely depends on what type of formula you use, though. Hypoallergenic formulas are much more expensive. Enfamil is more expensive than Gerber or store brands, etc.
