@catomd00: my practice doesn't do NT scans either, so if I want any sort of reassurance that baby doesn't have any of those conditions, panorama is my only option. That being said, when I was pregnant with my son, the practice DID do NT and we opted out.

@Applesandbananas: I wasn't offered it but I'd be scared to get stuck with the be. In my friends situation, they didn't even offer her the Nt scan which is why it's so bizarre to me!

This thread has me pretty convinced not to bother ;) I'm pretty certain because I'm not high risk, my insurance wouldn't cover it, because I don't *need* it... And honestly, I just thought it'd be cool to find out the gender early, but I can wait ;) we're also still contemplating team green!

@Applesandbananas: they just said we don't do that, despite her telling them the doc office said they do and all the online anecdotes. They told her she needs to appeal her insurance company. It's a real shit show and she's super upset because she called her insurance company ahead of time to be sure if was covered. I thought it might have something to do with her deductive, but nope her deductible is only $250. It makes no sense!

I was told my insurance would not cover anything and that I would pay $150 out of pocket. Had it done in October and my insurance ended up paying all but $100. I still haven't received a bill for the remaining $100. I've heard that panorama will work with you if your insurance doesn't cover it and if you tell them you were told by your OB that you would pay no more than a certain amount that they honor that amount.

I had panorama done in the fall... they were running a promotion that max out of pocket was $200 if they were out of network and $100 for in network. I think they billed insurance 3k which was denied but would have honored the promotion price (my results were inconclusive so I paid $0). It is a new year so the promo might be over... I think they were doing it to try and get approval for non-AMA people so insurance will eventually cover more!

I got the CF test, but my insurance decided not to cover it. The lab agreed to reduce the cost to $75. I about had a heart attack when I got a bill for $2,500+, it made me a nervous wreck until they sent me an update when I contested the bill.

Similar thing happened with the toxoplasma titer, but my doctor was able to justify it because of my line of work. Not fun getting a bill in the mail for a couple thousand dollars.

I had panorama done and I think my insurance was billed about $2800? They did not cover it at all, but I haven't received a bill from anyone. My OB told me that at most I would pay $25, but that was almost a year ago and still nothing!

@LCTBQE: @catomd00: I have heard that these places don't actually have collections agencies so if you don't pay, no penalty.

@catomd00: shitttttt... I just had one done last week and my OB assured me that if my insurance doesn't cover it (I'm not AMA yet) it won't be more than $250-300 max. yeouch.

@MrsSCB: yep the OB told her max it would be $250 OOP. Insurance is saying nope, because she's not AMA or High Risj and Panorama isn't lowering the cost for her either.

I called the lab about the Informaseq, which is similar. They bill insurance around $800 or $900, but if it isn't covered, I could pay them out of pocket around $250.

@catomd00: oh, hell no! That's crazy!

My OB offers a similar test to Panorama and it's $350 OOP. That's actually on the higher end of what I've heard NIPT tests typically cost.

I'm not AMA and will likely not do Panorama, but I'm curious what the out of pocket cost would be?
