LO quickly learned how to climb off. She also would act like she was going to jump off the end until one day she fell (from sitting). The shenanigans mostly stopped after that.

@Crumbs: Gah! I just watched it. Crazy! I don't have any suggestions for that, DS never did anything close to that. (But I LOOOVE her dress).

@Crumbs: Honestly, C acted like she might launch herself off the armrest for a while but she never actually did it. A big reaction is just going to make her continue to think it's a game. I'd just pull her down quietly and distract her whenever she does and she'll lose interest.

Right now, it's her new skill. She'll get bored and it'll stop being so much fun soon enough. I think our DDs are similarly unafraid of bodily harm. lol

@lamariniere: I just posted a vid on IG. She went straight towards the side and tried to jump! Even if she's calm before climbing up there, the second she's on she goes nuts.

@zippylef: I'm more concerned about her trying to jump off/play on it. It's like she climbs on it just so she can scare the crap out of me by jumping around and trying to jump off the arm rests. She thinks its a game :(

I agree, teach her how to get down safely. I literally showed DS a dozen times how to wiggle backwards off of the couch onto his feet. Your DD sounds like much more of a daredevil than DS though.

Just teach her how to climb back off and godspeed. C climbs on EVERYTHING. She did face-plant once off the couch but I think she learned quickly because she never did it again.

DD can now easily climb onto the couch. This is such a game changer, because now I can't leave her upstairs for a minute to get something from the kitchen. I can't even check my email on my desktop. I've had to sprint three times while I'm writing this post because once she gets on, she starts jumping and heads straight for the arm rests like she's about to jump off! Either that or she climbs over the top edge to the table in back of it.

We're in an open area upstairs, so her play area, the family room, and the computer nook is all in once space. Am I supposed to close her in? How did you deal with couch shenanigans?
