@tequierro21- agreed. There's gotta be something wrong. My issue is that she's willing to lie about it. Why even bother?

Ugh, people can be so strange. It wouldn't bother me if she wasn't such a wacko. Then again, I should just expect it.

@BabyLove: well if it's something the doctor's are recommending, then something is probably wrong with the pregnancy. maybe her fluids are low or something and they need to take the baby out sooner than later.

Omg, she's totally seeking attention! I'm not pregnant, I have a 5 month old. She wasn't interested in having kids for 2 years.. until she found out we were pregnant and immediately began trying.

I agree, I think there's some other complication but she doesn't want to tell us. She says it's not by her choice that they're scheduling a c-section nor is it her choice to do so as early as 4 weeks.

that's ridiculous. no doctor would do an elective c-section 4 weeks early! the babies don't develop the lungs completely until like the 37th week! i'm having twins and the earliest my doctor wants to schedule a c-section is 38 weeks. even though the average due date for twins is 37 weeks and most are born before 37. i vote that she's lying.

The ACOG (American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology) standard recommendation is to not section or induce until 39 weeks. Of course there may be reasons where a baby would have to be delivered earlier and I'm not sure about your friend's medical history, so there may be something that none of us understand that would make sense to take the baby early... but standard of care is not before 39 weeks.

Most doctors prefer the baby to stay in there as long as possible , to get as close to 40 weeks as possible. I dont many doctors that would take the baby out 4 weeks early solely because of the breech position. Maybe there is another reason and she doesnt want to tell you? But I also dont think any good doctor would allow her to just choose to get the baby out at 36 weeks, if it wasnt medically necessary.

Nope. Doesn't make sense to me.. :P sad that she's considering a c-section so early. I'd tell her to schedule one closer to her due date and see what she says. I don't remember if you're pregnant, but maybe she wants to give birth before you?

Quick(ish) background- my hubs and I are "friends" with a couple. I quote it because it's his bff since childhood and his wife. The wife is coo coo for cocoa puffs. I've befriended her, just because I know it means a lot to my husband. But she's so difficult to get along with! And since becoming friends with her, she's created a competition with us that is OOC (out of control). I'm talking every last thing we do, they do shortly after us. Including getting pregnant.

Anyway, they recently came over and she said that she might have to have a c-section 4 weeks before her due date because the baby is in the breech position. Does that make sense? I'm obviously not an OBGYN. But, why not wait to give the baby time to move. If he doesn't, then they can do a c-section closer to her due date, no?

I'm just curious to know if this sounds like it's something that could actually happen. She's so pathological that she would lie about something like this to avoid telling us that there's actually something wrong with her pregnancy.
