I have mastitis now, on antibiotics since Wednesday. In my googling I saw that if a lactating woman with a newborn feels like she's getting sick, it's most likely mastitis. Just call, your comfort is important! Hope you feel better soon.

In the interim you could try raw garlic, probiotics and taking vitamin c to see if that helps, lots of rest will also help!

Hope you feel better soon!!

@hilsy85: the pain it getting worse and feels like it's spreading. I am that crazy lady that has called the OB office for everything under the sun the last 3 weeks. Let's add this to the list!

Definitely sounds like it could be...I would call the OB and get a prescription just in case...if your temp spikes up then you'll know it's mastitis and you'll already have the meds!

DS is three weeks old and pumping turned out to be too much pressure with little output so we switched to formula. I've been trying to dry up my milk for the last week. I could have done it better but I was so over it and wanted it done quickly.

Now I have a tender, mildly painful left boob. My temp has been hovering at 99.2-99.9 yesterday and today. I feel like I'm getting the flu. I don't see a red spot or streaking. I feel like all I do is call my OB office (for valid concerns but still) and I don't want to call again if maybe it's something else. I've also had a very upset tummy so maybe I'm just sick?

I don't know if this matters but at first I was thinking that I pulled some scar tissue from my breast surgery ten years ago.
