My first LO was a great experience with a great epidural. It was the recovery from the 3rd degree tear that was rough.

My second LO was an unplanned med free birth (arrived at the hospital too late for an epidural). Worst pain imaginable... Though pushing only lasted 10 min, it was the most excruciating 10 min of my life. Recovery much better this time around, though. Multiple first degree tears only.

Overall, I could do an epidural delivery again, but have no interest in med free ever again. On the flip side, I would never want to do the recovery from a 3rd degree tear again. Regardless, I think we are two and through.

I was always so terrified of labor/delivery, but it wasn't so bad so I'd def be doing it at least one more time! Epi helped tremendously (even tho it wore off enough for me to feel when to push, and there was one spot that just hurt no matter what). I pushed for 2 hrs too... It was exhausting! They had to cut me AND I tore, but to my surprise the recovery wasn't bad! That was my #1 fear too!

Labor? Absolutely! Drug-free labor? Maybe not. If I do it again I will have to try to the hospital in time for the epidural.

Yes!! I have a 4 month old and after a month I was ready again! I had a super easy pregnancy, and a longish labor but it wasn't that bad, especially after my epidural! We're crazy and NTNP ever since my 6 week check up

Originally, I thought I would do it pain med free but the risk of being unconscious if I had to have a c-section is not what I wanted so I got an epidural early on. Not sure if it had to do with my tired uterus (possibly due to PPROM) which resulted in my failed induction, but I didn't have a lot of pain at 6 cm dilated before I had my epidural. So L&D with my c-section wasn't that bad.

Though, with HG for 24 weeks with 2 hospital stays, a shortened cervix for 2 weeks, then PPROM with 6 weeks on bed rest, then c-section instead of a vaginal birth and followed by the babies being in the nicu for 15 days... I do have some risks of future pregnancy complications. I haven't even mentioned the getting pregnant part which required IVF. Anyway, if I do get pregnant again, I will mostly likely have a singleton pregnancy so maybe my pregnancy complications will decrease. Other than the 6 weeks of hospital bed rest which was just an inconvience, the worst part was the HG. Hoping that was because I was pregnant with two babies. Though, I'm told that I'm a petite person and I might have had HG with one baby.

@mrsjyw: The delivery part yes, but I wouldn't be thrilled about it. The post-birth high was definitely amazing though. But not the preterm part, and the nicu stay.

After 3 hours of pushing that lead to a c section I felt a huge sense of relief when during the surgery my doctor suggested we skip the first part next time and go ahead and schedule a c section. An RCS is the only way I'm going to have another child. I have no desire to try for a vbac.

After my third delivery, absolutely not. If I had a repeat of my second delivery, sure. Heck, I could even do my 15-hour induction again. But my third delivery was so painful and traumatic, I'm almost willing to be celibate for life.

I had a horrible birth experience ending with a C-section.

I want to try to have a VBAC and a more positive experience. But even if it were as terrible as last time, at this point I would do it again because I know there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

As bad as this sounds, the pain and trauma and being thrown right in with a colicky newborn and breastfeeding issues didn't really feel "worth it" at the beginning. I knew that it was of course but it didn't feel that way when I was trudging through it. Now, being a mom is seriously so much more amazing than I could have ever imagined or ever describe... so I know what awaits me. :)

Sure. Yeah - I had a 36 hour failed induction and had to be on mag for almost 3 full days and I ended up with a c-section. But everyone was fine and it really wasn't that bad. Plus - I want more kids.

My first birth was awful and I never wanted to do it again. I got pregnant unexpectedly 4 months PP and ended up having a really smooth delivery (less than 4 hours start to finish) with my second even though I had to be induced at 42 weeks.

I'm planning on doing it at least one more time so yes, I could do it again. :)

Definitely! First time around I had an induction with no epidural and while the super intense contractions sucked throughout my 11 hour labor, pushing was easy and lo was out in one push (she pretty much fell out!)

Lo2 was a natural, no epidural labor/birth and I found it much easier then the induction. The labor was only 4 hours and only pushed for 5 minutes tops.
It took about 20 minutes after lo2's birth that I declared I could definitely do it again.

Will I? Sure if I want a second.

A 43 hour induction, 4 hours of pushing and a failed epidural suuuucked. But since I had a scheduled induction for gestational diabetes and was given an unplanned induction 4 days early due to pre e it's likely I will get one or both again which will end in an induction sooooooo.

I don't think I could do another pregnancy. I hurt a lot, I struggle with weight gain (like actually gaining it), and I'm facing the same possible placental complications that likely led to me to hemorrhaging when Evan was born. My providers have a very proactive plan already in place if it does, but it really casts a pall over the whole experience, especially knowing I have a higher risk of it happening again.

That said, I have no doubt I could totally do labor and delivery again, even with the complications. I was totally zen the first time :silly:

I'm more traumatized from the post-partum period than I am from birth. The birth was just one day. The entire year after that was very difficult for me (hemorrhaged after the birth, milk wouldn't come in, post-partum anxiety, hemorrhoids, had supply problems forever, nursing strike, biting, pumping at work, etc.) UGH. I'd be a lot more interested in giving birth if I could just skip all that drama from the first year.
