We have a greyhound (see my profile pic!) and are obsessed with breed in general. So we have fostered Quasar (3 weeks), Buster (1 month), Sid (2+ months) and Ruby (1 week) until they found their forever homes. We work with a greyhound rescue. Both Buster and Sid were SUUUPER high needs and had major separation anxiety. Sid was the hardest - he tore up our place regularly and had accidents almost every day for the first month (and not just pee...). We were pretty distressed and had to give him back to the greyhound org before he found his forever home. We were sad because our greyhound loved him, and he was so sweet when we were home. We might have adopted him if his separation anxiety hadn't been such a huge issue! I haven't been able to foster after that experience because it was so hard. Have fostered others and successfully found them forever homes. It is bittersweet, but very rewarding in the end. I had them in my office and they destroyed the furniture (my beautiful leather office chair!) and the book cases have tons of little kitten claw marks on the bottom few inches. It is a cute memory (and they were sooooooo freaking adorable) but I remember thinking "never again" - the worst part was interviewing people and having people in and out of our home. We've had many litters of bottle fed kittens and we had a litter of puppies over Christmas last year. We have only had one foster failure (as in we adopted her) so I think we're doing okay.
