What an inconsiderate and rude comment! That lady is a B and needs to mind her own business. Has she ever been pregnant? As someone who had pretty bad morning sickness (definitely not as bad as you!), you can't just force yourself to eat. I hope the morning sickness lets up for you soon! I remember how miserable it was.

@PBandBaseball: I was feeling out of the loop because I couldn't believe you were 16 weeks and I hadn't known you were pregnant yet. Glad I didn't just miss something. CONGRATS!

@kentuckygirl: Awww!! Thank you so much!! I took some time away from HB because it was difficult to talk about everything when things weren't working and then I knew I wouldn't be able to keep it quiet until 14w, so I just held off on saying something until that woman decided to be rude this morning.

I'll do a post sometime today because a lot of crazy stuff happened. :)

@PBandBaseball: AAAAHHHHH, CONGRATULATIONS on your pregnancy!!!! I don't know if you remember me or not but we were experiencing some similar struggles with TTC. I have wondered how you were doing since I hadn't "seen" you on here lately. I am SOOOOO EXCITED for you!!!! I know you mentioned seeing an RE, I would love to hear the history behind your BFP! I am still TTC and love to hear success stories. Although I am very sorry to hear about your extreme MS and hope you get past that stage very soon! Hugs!!!

@Anagram: Thank you for sharing that link! It's so true that many doctors don't understand how bad this can be. The ER doc last night kept telling me that it was weird that I was still so sick at 16w. Ugh! I haven't been officially diagnosed with HG but it has been discussed. I think that any time you are moving into the double digits of throwing up each day, you've moved past what most people consider morning sickness. The zofran helps in that I just feel like I'm constantly hungover without the actual sickness. I'm only a week away from where you were when your symptoms started to improve. Hopefully I'm in the home stretch!

@PBandBaseball: People who haven't had severe morning sickness have no idea what it's like. They just don't. I had severe morning sickness, too, and people would give me "helpful" advice like "oh, eat some chicken. Protein always helped me feel less nauseous.".

And I would be like, "Oh, you had bad MS, too? And had to get fluids for dehydration? And were throwing up 13-14 times a day?"

And they would be like....."no, I just felt a little queasy sometimes and eating chicken would make me feel better".

Yeah. Queasiness and throwing up 13 times in a day are not the same. I say this over and over, but severe morning sickness is exactly like a severe stomach flu. You can't keep anything down, you feel awful, you throw up even water or ice chips. You CAN force yourself to eat bland foods--saltines, bananas, drinks with electrolytes. But they may very well come back up.

People just don't get it if they haven't had it. I actually think women are a little worse about this. They assume everyone has morning sickness like their own morning sickness. And it's just not true. There are many variations of how this can all go down, and it just depends on the person.

In any case, you have my sympathies! I also had to take Zofran, which really did stop the throwing up for the most part, but I was still completely horribly nauseous all the time. So, I just *felt* like I was going to throw up after going ont he 'fran, which is only a small improvement over actually throwing up. It is SO tough. I was one of the lucky ones that it basically went away at week 17. I was starting to think I'd have it until the end....

Now I have just "regular" nausea---only when I let myself go too long without eating, and I feel 200% better than before. hang in there! Hopefully, it will get better for you! This article helped me a LOT in my dark days: http://www.thefrisky.com/2012-12-05/true-story-my-wife-has-hyperemesis-gravidarum-the-same-acute-morning-sickness-as-kate-middleton/

@yoursilverlining: My husband made me eat applesauce a few weeks ago because he was worried that I hadn't eaten enough and I threw it right back up on him. That was the last time he told me I should just try to eat something.

What a B! You're doing your best, your OB is on board with a plan, and everyone else can mind their own business. I hope your sickness wanes soon. That phase is so miserable!

@KJfromNJ: I've talked to both my RE & my OB about the situation over the past 10 weeks and they are most interested in my water intake which has been decent as long as I take very small sips almost constantly throughout the day. I also make sure that I take my prenatal vitamins around 8pm which is typically when I feel the best throughout the day so that we can try to make sure that I'm getting the nutrients that I'm missing from my diet of bread, potatoes, and apples.

I think what bugged me the most was that she almost made it sound like I was not eating on purpose. The reality is that I was actually able to eat a decent sized meal on Tuesday night and I was ecstatic. Hopefully this phase of the pregnancy is almost over!

As someone who also had bad MS – ugh, WTF people?! You cannot force yourself to eat when you are that sick to your stomach, you will throw it right back up. I hate, hate, hate this mentality of “just force yourself to eat”. Um, what part of constantly-throwing-up did you miss?

I should add, even if your doc says it's NOT ok, it's none of her business. You just didn't mention if you'd talked to your doc about it so I wondered, since that's an issue I've had too :) But yeah, homegirl needs to MIND HER BUSINESS!!!!

Suck it up? Oh ok... because forcing yourself to eat and then throwing it back up is better for the baby??

I had really bad morning sickness until 20 weeks at which point I was down 4 lbs from pre-pregnancy. But then the nausea finally subsided and I started to gain weight. By the time I delivered I was still only 18lbs above my pre pregnancy weight but I delivered a perfectly healthy 6lb 7ounce baby. Just eat what you can and don't stress about it. Baby will take what it needs from you.

As long as your doctor is ok with your day-to-day, I would probably snap at her (I'm kind of a bitch) and say I didn't know she had a degree in obstetrics!

I was having issues early on and my doctor wasn't concerned, more just wanting me to get enough fluids and my prenatal than anything. So check with your doctor (I'm sure you have) and tell her that it's none of her damn business!

I'm just about 16w pregnant and have had some ridiculous morning/all day sickness. I've spent a few days in the hospital and had to visit the ER last night for more fluids and to make sure that the baby was okay (of course I didn't get sick until the second I got home from the hospital - ugh).

So, this morning I am telling my coworker that I feel hungry but it's such a struggle to keep anything down (even with the strong anti-nausea meds that I'm on) that I just haven't been able to eat much. Her response was that I just need to suck it up and force myself to eat because I'm starving my baby. Ugh. I am worried enough as it is because at this point I'm still down 2lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight. It's so tough when people try to tell you that you're doing things incorrectly as it relates to pregnancy and parenting!

I just needed to vent! I should say that this woman and I are not friends. She was just asking because she saw me leave work yesterday to head to the hospital.
