@mrbee: thanks for the response. I did end up calling and they pretty much said the same as my friend- not much to do but ride it out. Now she is up coughing in her room and sounding so sad but still, not much the doctor could do. Hoping this doesn't linger, and that the baby stays out for a few more days!

@Foodnerd81: I usually visit our pediatrician for longer-term illnesses just for reassurance... but in my case, my kids were always in daycare or school so I needed that reassurance so I would know better if they were infectious!

If your LO is feeling ok other than the bumps (and you can keep your LO home and limit exposure to others), then I might just watch and wait! If limiting exposure is getting old though, I'd visit the pediatrician and get their take!!

If your LO has some kind of viral illness, like coxsackie, do you bring them to the doctor (even though you know they won't get antibiotics)? How long do you keep them out of a activities (non necessary ones, like a gym class, not daycare)?

C has had a mild cold for about a week, I noticed a few small bumps on back of hands and wrists, but nothing that seemed to bother her. Then Friday she spiked a fever to 102.3, still feverish in the morning, then thw fever went away but she was just a little crankier than usual.

Yesterday and this morning we noticed more bumps on her wrists and the back of her hands (not palms) and on her butt and the back of her thighs.

My ped friend said it could be coxsackie and just limit her exposure to other kids (via text, she didn't actually look at her). Just trying to figure it when I can have her around other kids, how much I need to worry about her getting them sick, when we can go back to activities, and how much I need to worry about that fact that I'm having a new baby any day...
