C had it starting around 5 weeks or so- I remember because I talked to the midwife about it at my six week follow up. I rubbed coconut oil on it, then scrubbed gently with the soft hair brush. I also started using mustela shampoo that is supposed to help with it, and scrubbing her scalp with the soft brush as I shampooed. She had it in her eyebrows and scalp and had really fine hair so it was visible.

I can't remember how old my LO was, but it wasn't right away that it showed up. I used to obsess over picking it (I know, gross and horrible).

As soon as I found the right product, it went away and never returned (Mustela foam shampoo for newborns + bean-b-clean cradle cap brush)

K is 6 months and I have never seen any. Her hair is pretty thick on top so it might be covering it though.
L is over 2, and STILL has it. I have tried everything (well, probably not everything, but a lot) and it will not go away :crying:

At two months old, my LO had some minor yellow, scaly flakes on her scalp. My ped told me to put some oil on it and then gently rub it with a plastic comb. I used coconut oil and a small toothed comb and all the flakes came off and never came back.

DD started getting it around 3 months really bad so I used mustella (sp?) and it helped. Then we switched to Johnson's after it cleared up but that gave her dandruff. So we are still using Mustella right now.

LO had some in her eyebrows when she was maybe around 5-6 weeks old? A few baths with some gentle baby oil scrubbing cleared it up after a few weeks. It didn't seem to bother her so I didn't go after it too aggressively. She then had a little bit on her front hair line, did the same thing. I just noticed (now at 5 mo) that she has a little patch on the top of her head but it's not bothering her so I'll likely leave it alone unless it starts to get bigger.

My guy had it as an infant at some point (I don't remember how old). We did the olive oil and brushing and washing and brushing. I noticed it again a few months ago at 3.5 years old and did the oil and brushing again. This time I washed the oil out with blue dawn. I haven't seen it since.

When he was still a newborn I think? It wasn't bad, but noticeable. Our pedi recommended we wash his head with Selsun Blue followed by baby oil. I thought selsun blue was too strong of a formulation for a baby's head, but he recommended it so we tried it. It seemed to help and his cradle cap went away after a couple weeks.

Both of my nieces and my nephew all had cradle cap, and it was really bad. I was determined to make sure that I did everything I could so that LO didn't have it!

A few things I did was brush his scalp with a soft brush. He had a ton of dry skin, and this just got the flaky skin off when he was really little as a newborn. When I would wash his hair, I would always rinse with clean water rather than the water in the bath that was soapy. The soapy water rinse leave soap on the skin, so the clean water rinse was important.

If I did see cradle cap, I got a comb that was specifically for cradle cap and combed it out. I have read that putting baby oil on and letting it soak in first, then combing it out helps since it makes it softer and won't hurt LO as much.

Both boys had/have (Logan still has it) cradle cap. It showed up around 6-8 weeks I think? And I forget how long it lasted - a while! Logan still has it at 12 weeks, though it's not AS bad as it was originally.

DH has been doing bath lately and I didn't notice it, but my sister did when giving her a trim. She said we need to scrub her scalp until she makes us stop....I hate that, I remember my mom doing it and it hurting so bad. So I told DH that he just needs to dig a little deeper and I use the comb to help too...sucks so bad!

my older DD had it but her hair mainly covered it so I never bothered with it.

my 6 week old shows no signs of it yet. curious if she'll end up with it or not!
