I would cramp sometimes when I was dehydrated. It was so bad, I thought it was a kidney stone. Drink tons of water and see if you notice any difference.

@Mrs. Oatmeal: You would know if it was a kidney stone. The pain I experienced was worse than any labor pains and got exponentially worse within 4-5 hours, to the point where I was throwing up from the pain. If it does get to that point, definitely page your Midwife.

@Mrs. Oatmeal: I had a lot of ligament soreness this time around, too. It's gone away as I've gotten bigger (weirdly enough) but i had days where i just had to rub it and put some heat on it and wonder WTF Was going on! I aggravated it so bad at the beginning of my third tri by racing through an airport that my dr checked my cervix lol!

@macintosh: yes! I was on the floor stretching like crazy last night and it seemed to help.@MamaBehr: I'd heard that you feel more the second time around- I guess I just wasn't expecting it to be so drastically different!

They seem to have stopped this morning so that is reassuring.

Oh man I had pain like that too, definitely the worst 14-17ish weeks. (probably worst around 16w!) There were definitely times when it felt like you described, like menstrual cramps - wrapping to my back and almost in my thighs I could feel it. I had the "typical" round ligament pain as well (shooting/zinging/pulling feelings around my crotch and on the sides of my belly) but this was different.

My doctor said it was okay as long as it was short-lived. Typically I would have the pain but then it would subside in a couple minutes. I think if it DOESN'T go away quickly, I would definitely get it checked out (and of course, if there's bleeding or anything). I have been kind of "crampy" feeling a LOT this pregnancy! I had a SCH at 6 weeks with menstrual cramps + bleeding so I'm paranoid whenever I start to feel that crampy feeling. But, baby seems to be doing fine!

With each pregnancy I felt more pain, cramping, and contractions than the last. I was amazed at how differently my third pregnancy was than my first, and all that stuff started earlier with each pregnancy.

I get really awful round ligament pains. They few like they are right along the "bikini line" and are the worst when I'm laying down for a long time. I think it's a mixture of my full bladder pressing on the ligaments and one side getting stretched from the weight of my bump pulling to one side. It feels better when I change positions.

I also have lumbar pain if I do too much bending over. My hips and butt get really achy and numb if I sit in one position too long. Stretching - cat/cow pose - helps a lot.

I had a ton of cramping almost my entire pregnancy with DD2. they said second pregnancies are like that. I had legitimate contractions from 20-22 weeks on, too!

@Peasinapod: could be ...I don't know what kidney stones would feel like! I'm not having any other symptoms that would indicate that, but it's possible!

Could it be kidney stones? Maybe tmi but I had similar pains and then couldn't pee. I thought it might be a bladder infection or uti so I went to the hospital. Turned out I had kidney stones.

I'm almost 16 weeks with baby 2, and I am having awful back pain (left hand side, feels muscle-y). But it's wrapping around my side, and I've got some serious twinges/ cramping in my lower abdomen (almost pubic bone).

Everything I'm reading says round ligament pain (and just a sore back), but I'm hesitant. Because it's the long weekend, my midwives office is closed except for urgent pages.

Experience? Talk to me about cramping, back pain, all that good stuff!
