@2littlepumpkins: I walked around target for about an hour, and I think it helped. Hopefully veggie stir fry and pickles will do their job by morning!

@MaryM: ugh I get those kind of cramps. Once with my second I had cramps like that come on so suddenly (and intense) I actually screamed and was on the floor a few minutes.. got an us and was told, maybe gas. (My GI system is fun like that.) I have also had a few cramps come on when peeing with this pregnancy but it hasn't so far been a UTI, just things shifting I guess. Hope you're feeling better.

They measured my cervix to make sure it wasn't funneling and it was fine. Baby was moving around and waving.

They're doing a urine culture to rule out bladder infection, and said to drink cranberry juice, take colace, and up my fiber.

When I had uterine cramping during early pregnancy, it felt exactly like cramps I would get around my period, if that makes you feel any better. Checking with the doctor is a great idea, regardless. Any chance it could be a bladder infection or UTI if it's hurting when you pee?

I had worrying cramps once when I was severely constipated. I took off the afternoon, bought some Metamucil, and took a bath. The hot water really calmed the cramps and made me realize its constipation. But, I knew I was irregular at that point and that it was causing the cramps more than likely! Good luck!!

Now it also hurts when I pee. I'm not sure if it's because everything is starting to get packed in there and moves when my bladder empties, but it feels weird.

So I'm heading to the OB. Pray I'm just full of poop!

I always encouraged people to call if they are worried. But if you feel constipated, I'd also recommend some warm prune juice, maybe some warm coffee, followed by taking a walk.

for what its worth, i have to take a small fiber supplement at night (psyllium husk), and drink about 4 ounces of prune juice plus my coffee every morning to stay regular. a consistent routine like that really helps during pregnancy!

hope you feel better soon!

I used to get badly constipated when I was younger and ate A LOT of white bread. The fact that it's a lasting dull ache sounds just like when I used to be constipated. Mine always seemed to be confined to one side or the other, as opposed to the center, if hat makes sense? Also when I had cramps it was always accompanied by pressure, which is usually how I could tell the difference. If your worried I would go ahead and call, but to me it sounds like constipation. I Also want to say sometimes being constipated would last for 2 days for me, if you can stomach it, I would drink some prune juice and water and give it a couple of hours and see if you have another bowel movement that makes you feel better.

Any tips on being able to distinguish uterine cramps from constipation (or anything else benign)?

I seem to be fine if I'm still. But I got up to use the bathroom early this morning and was immediately in pain. It took a while to find a position that was comfortable and get back to sleep.

Now at work, I was ok sitting at my desk for an hour. I got up to go to the printer, and it was hard to just straighten up.

It's a lasting dull ache (not quick and sharp). It's low, so I can't really tell if it's intestinal or uterine. I'm about 13.5 weeks pregnant.

(TMI...I have had a BM today, but I'm not really convinced I've "emptied" my bowels...)

Secondarily, at what point would you call your OB about pain? I just had the NT scan Friday and everything was fine. I'm scheduled to see my OB in a week.
