@mamacate did your husband or doctor have specific concerns about it other than the lack of research?

@ldh112: have you asked your pediatrician? My LC recommended this over the weekend but our doctor and my husband who is a pediatric resident were very skeptical. I have not been able to find any evidence based support for the practice so i share their concerns.

We did it and it was very helpful. Also, have you had your baby checked for posterior tongue tie and upper lip tie? My first had major nursing problems and ties that were missed repeatedly until she was 6 months old and I found someone knowledgeable on the issue. (Www.kiddsteeth.com is a good resource.)

I had major success with this when DD1 was 6 weeks old. She had a really poor suck plus some issues with a hypersensitive palate and tightness in her jaw (essentially infant TMJ). From the first session, there was marked improvement and we went on to nurse from that session on to 14 months. It seriously saved our breast feeding journey and of course my nipples!

Both my babies had several sessions with an osteopath (a similar kind of therapy) and it definitely helped both of them, but moreso my big girl.

I found it to be a very gentle form of therapy and figured that potential benefits were worth what I saw to be the minimal risk. My big girl had 3-4 quite comprehensive sessions (long, difficult labour and ventouse delivery) but my wee dude only had two short sessions (faster, natural delivery but he was a big baby). Neither baby cried at any time during treatment and I wouldn't hesitate to take them back if necessary.

I've posted about some breastfeeding issues but thought I'd make this more general even though it still pertains somewhat to feeding issues.

My almost 5-week old is having some difficulty transferring milk. Aside from slow weight gain, her inability to efficiently suck has caused me a couple bouts of clogged ducts and a possible abscess I am having checked out tomorrow. The lactation clinic I have gone to has been so supportive during this overwhelming first month and the nurses there, along with my midwife, brought up craniosacral therapy as a possible treatment option.

Has anyone tried this for any infant issues, particularly breastfeeding? My baby also greatly prefers to keep her head facing toward the right which has been observed by the nurses as well and this could also be improved with craniosacral therapy (they don't believe its torticollis).

I am a little skeptical of the therapy's efficacy (when looking it up I find plenty critiques), but I am open to it if it will help us out.

All thoughts welcomed! :)
