Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences! Here's to hoping that I pass the 3 hour on Monday and it goes by quickly. My midwives said no food or water after midnight and my appt. starts at 9 AM.

I failed the 1 hour and passed the 3 hour. I think my 1 hour level was in the 150s. The night before the 3 hour test I tried to not eat too much carbohydrates and sweets.

I failed the 1 hour (my sprinkle was the night before and I ate a ton of sweets). Passed the 3 hour with flying colors.

I got a 145 on the 1 hr and passed the 3 hr.

The nurse said 145 is not that bad. Some people got 180 or 200 and she said those most likely would not pass the 3 hr.

With Lo1, I failed my first and passed the three hour. . I didn't eat breakfast (really early appt)had lots and lots of water right before I took the first one and I think that threw it off?

With LO2, I didn't want to fail bc the three hour test was torture. I followed the docs instructions given to me to the tee including eating one piece of plain toast. Yay passed!

I failed my one hour and passed the three hour both pregnancies. I tried to eat a more balanced diet over the days before the test (especially dinner the night before) but ultimately your body will do what it does. Good luck!

@Sadieloo: I failed my 1 hour and passed my 3 hour too. I didn't do anything different besides not eating pasta the night before lol but if you truly have GD there isn't anything you can do to pass the test. Oh and FYI the drink is much sweeter for the 3 hour...it's not the same sugar concentrate as the 1 hour. I wasn't aware that it would be so much sweeter!

They told me to keep eating normally to not throw off the 3-hr. I ended up with GD.

Definitely balance your carbs with your protein. Also, measure your portions! I found that I could eat cereal as long as it was exactly one serving with 1/2 a cup of milk and exactly 8 oz. of orange juice every morning without making my glucose go sky high. You can also eat different carbs (sweet potatoes instead of regular potatoes) and make sure you are eating some protein with them.

Balancing protein and carb intake is more important than just cutting out sugar.

I failed my 1 hour by 1 point and passed the 3. Hope you pass the 3 hour! Your doc should have given you instructions for the diet before the 3 hour test...

Anyone have experience failing the 1 hr fasting test and passing the 3 hr test? I took mine yesterday and my level was 149. I have been eating a lot of Easter candy and sweets (I'm tired and sugar helps, right?) and am hoping that if I clean things up over the weekend before the 3 hr test on Monday, I'll be ok. Any thoughts on what to do? Should I just avoid sugar and carbs?
