So, if it makes you feel any better, I fed G spoiled milk on accident today. It was a frozen breastmilk bag from September and I didn't think to smell it first. :( she spit it up everywhere!

my LO had strawberry (and blueberry, blackberry and raspberry actually) by 6.5 months.
Our doctor advised the only foods to wait until 12 months are peanut butter, citrus, and honey

I asked my ped about this stuff, and she said that she recommends trying most foods (except honey) whenever the parents feel like introducing it. Watch for a reaction, and if she doesn't have one, she's fine. If she does, she may have had it at the one year mark anyway, so it's better to have it now when you're paying close attention than when you're not! :):):)

I'm glad the strawberry doesn't seem to be an issue, because, lets be honest, strawberries are pretty awesome ;)

This is an interesting thread. I am about to start solids with my lo and I feel somewhat overwhelmed. I go back and forth between "should I obsessively research" or should I use my intuition. There is so much info out there!
I fed a baby a strawberry :) I was a child and there was a miscommunication. The mom freaked on me but the baby loved it and thankfully was just fine. More than fine!

@Cherrybee: I love the serious face while splashing, it's so cute. C gets super serious watching her legs kicking, then turns to me and gives me a HUGE smile, then gets serious and back to splashing. But she's still in the reclined part of the tub. She loves to stand (with help, obviously) and wants to be held up to you shoulder, not cradled unless I'm feeding her. But not so into sitting. I guess I prefer reclining too :)

my doctor said strawberries in baby food, pouches, etc are fine because they're processed - but fresh are what you want to avoid. that said, if she hasn't reacted I'm sure she's fine. I was told a strawberry reaction would likely start with a rash!

Here's an interesting article: http://health.usnews.com/health-news/blogs/eat-run/2013/03/19/how-and-why-to-introduce-allergens-to-your-infant When we introduced solids at about 6 months we tried eggs and strawberries pretty early on with no issue. This seemed fairly reliable and indicated that a severe reaction would most likely manifest more immediately. I think you are in the clear: http://kidshealth.org/parent/growth/feeding/food_allergies.html and assuming she doesn't have any rash or anything less serious, you now know she likes and isn't allergic to strawberries. :)

@Foodnerd81: E REFUSES to be cradled at all now - not for cuddles, feeding, anything! - and will not take her bottle unless she is sat up facing you. Even then she gets frustrated and refuses the bottle after about 100ml (unless it's the middle of the night, then she will lie in your arms and smash 200ml without opening her eyes!!). She likes her Bumbo but she LOVES standing in her jumperoo. She really doesn't want to be a baby!!!

Edit: I just remember, hahahaha, she told her daddy off last night! She has learned to splash in the bath and she likes to sit up and splash. Well DH tried to lie her down and wash her and she wailed until he sat her up again. Then she scowled at him and started splashing again, with this super serious face! It's serious business!
