@Cherrybee: aw yes, the frustration! Poor darling! Well, I bet you within a month you will be venting with frustration that she is crawling everywhere that she shouldn't be!

@Cherrybee: I definitely cried today :crying: I normally try to distract him and tell him he's fine, but his poor little eye... he has a robin's egg sized bump on his brow bone! They're definitely tougher than we are though, because he forgot about it 2 minutes later.

@littlebug: Go, D! That was always my thought, too. He's vocal and has really good fine motor skills, so I would guess he's just focused on that kind of stuff for now.

@Cherrybee: Haha, we are familiar with the full faceplant over here, too. He just gave himself a black eye today because he decided he wanted to sit from standing, and brought his toy bin (which he had been holding onto) down with him :(

@Cherrybee: I think there's a lot of balance required for crawling (at least that's what I'm noticing). You could try some horseplay and dancing (like with her standing and you shaking her about) to help her out.

@Pepper: Yeah, E isn't sitting herself up yet, either, and she only goes from sitting to lying via the full faceplant (usually onto a toy, complete with bruises).

@littlebug: Yeah, I've read that but I'm not sure what E is "specialising" in to be honest! She only makes one sound, too (ba). Maybe she has some sort of X-Men type power we don't know about and is practicing her mind reading or something!! :silly:

@lawbee11: I don't feel so bad knowing M does downward dog voluntarily......! E isn't up on her knees yet (seriously, she flails furiously but makes no effort to try anything new!!) but last night I put her up on them to try to show her what to do. She rocked for a few seconds then went into a full downward dog position. I thought that it must be good for building up strength so I didn't rescue her for a bit but I did feel like a very mean mummy (she was trapped!). :silly:

@Pepper: Yeah, D took a while to sit up on his own, too. But once he got that, and he got the crawling, he's been moving along pretty quickly. His ped thinks he'll take indepenent steps within the next 4 weeks. Last night he was practically running with his walker. He is a big talker, and the ped told us that babies can only do one thing at a time, and he clearly is concentrating on verbal rather than motor development.

@Cherrybee: She eventually gets frustrated, but not right away. She loves to plank/do downward dog so she's usually content to do that for awhile before she starts to whine.

@littlebug: This makes me feel so much better, as C isn't even army crawling yet (will be 10 months tomorrow) but he rolls everywhere, and loves to walk assisted. Our pediatrician mentioned early intervention, but I have a gut feeling he's fine... I just think he isn't interested in crawling! I do kind of worry because he doesn't go from laying to sitting on his own yet... but hopefully that will happen soon, too.

@lawbee11: C does the reach as far as he can move, too. If he can't reach it, he just finds something else to grab! He rolls, but he doesn't know how to get into a laying position from sitting (unless he does it by accident). So, that doesn't help him in that situation, either.

@Cherrybee: Hopefully they both catch on soon. M doesn't roll places either. She basically reaches as far as she can without crawling and if she still can't reach it then she just sits/lies there.

@littlebug: @Ginabean3: I'm not worried particularly, I just feel so sorry for her (and me because her frustration is very wearing!). She cries all day - and half of the night - because she wants to move so much. She doesn't even roll places - she rolls once onto her front then starts flailing her arms and legs, screaming. If I sit her down, she flings herself onto her tummy, face-planting in the process - cue the flailing and screaming. It's been going on for weeks now!

@Cherrybee: D didn't army crawl till 10 or 11 months, and didn't crawl until the week of his 1st birthday. Our first ped told us he was "behind," but my gut didn't agree. For that, and other reasons, we changed pediatricians. Our new ped had no concerns whatsoever. D hated tummy time, and rolled everywhere he needed to get from 7-10/11 months. I definitely worried, but now he's a speed demon! He's definitely on the later end of the curve, but it's a curve! Your LO will crawl when she's ready. But I KNOW it's hard not to stress!

I desperately want her to walk now because her pants are filthy disgusting everyday from crawling around outside at the park.

@lawbee11: Yeah. She flails her arms and legs about and screams in frustration because she can't move. Last night, I put her onto her hands and knees and let her rock back and forward (until she did the downward dog and then flopped back onto her tummy) but she's a million miles away from getting there from a lying-on-the-tummy position. I just watched a few youtube clips of babies learning to crawl (many of whom are much younger) and they are so much more active on the floor - getting their legs up under them, rolling about and trying to army crawl.

@Cherrybee: Does she still scream when you put her on her tummy? I was convinced my LO would crawl from sitting because she kept doing the same thing where she leans forward on her hands, but she's now getting up on all fours from her tummy and doing some serious rocking back and forth so I think she'll crawl that way now. She's been rocking back and forth for a couple of weeks so I'm thinking she'll be full-on crawling any day now.

DS army crawled forever, 7-10 months, and then exactly at 10 months started "traditional" crawling. Now he's speed crawling everywhere and cruising but refuses to walk at 13 months. Whatever, he's on his own timeline!
