I would SO not be able to keep something like this from DH. Plus he knows my cycle during TTC sooo the question would come up and it would be clear as day that something was up.

My DH wouldn't appreciate me keeping it from him. I've also never gotten pregnant in the first cycle so this wouldn't seem very realistic to me.

You know your husband best, so if you think it will be a great surprise then do it! I am terrible at keeping secrets. My husband was totally opposite of yours it sounds like...he would ask me leading up to AF how I was feeling and if it had arrived yet. :silly: I wasn't able to do anything fun with telling him, I just blurted it out. He didn't care though (that I didn't tell him in a cute way).

I don't think it's crazy at all. My DH doesn't pay attention to schedules so I could totally do it if I wanted. I am in a similar boat in that I had two miscarriages before having my son and think it would be fun to do more of a surprise for DH. I have zero willpower to be able to hold out for 2 weeks, but my DH would not care if I did for a surprise.

I always planned on fun ways to tell DH, but after our first loss (which is the pregnancy I did the fun reveal), I just found myself telling him right after my BFP.

Also, I was a HOT MESS starting at 5 weeks this time around. There's no way I could have hidden the nausea and fatigue from him. :)

This wouldn't have been an option for us. I had 2 losses, DS1, two losses, then DS2. Had I waited the 2 weeks after I found out about my 4th pregnancy, I would have lost the baby before I got a chance to tell DH about it. It would just be something to keep in mind.

There is no way I could hold out for more than a couple of minutes, haha. Also, we typically don't tell anyone IRL aside from my OB until the second tri, so I would definitely want DH's support in case of a loss.

I found out about our third about two weeks before christmas. I really considered not telling him until christmas morning. In the end, I just quietly told him in bed one night a couple of days after I had taken a good solid digital test. He was very glad that he was able to process the surprise of a third baby without the chaos of christmas morning.

I found out I was pregnant two weeks before Christmas, and that day I gave my husband an "early Christmas present" to tell him. He was so surprised and excited! So I'd probably do that but with an early bday present.

With a second pregnancy barring tell tale 1st Tri symptoms I could probably keep it to myself. With my first, heck no, I was too excited and DH figured it out right away with my POAS behavior. This time I can be way more low key.

I voted other. I told my husband in a fun way the first time I got pregnant. But then had a miscarriage. When I got pregnant with my daughter the next cycle, I told him immeadiately. After we started ttc again, we had three losses in a row. After the third loss, and discussing if we should take a break, he told me that he actually preferred to have me wait to tell him. I told him I would try.

When I did get pregnant again, I tried not to tell him. But refusing a sip of wine at a family Christmas party totally gave me away.

I think two weeks is doable, assuming he doesn't guess.

@Coral: i always thought a birthday surprise sounded so fun if the timing worked out that way :) if you can wait (I love daniellemybelle's suggestion to wait to POAS and tell him you bought his gift a little early this year ;)

Personally though, waiting was tough!! DH was on a work trip when I POAS for this baby and I obviously couldn't tell him over the phone! I had to wait 24 hours lol and I was going CRAZY hahaha.

i had to tell DH right away both times. Plus, the second time I was just so positive I was pregnant I was taking a million tests to prove I wasn't crazy. I had so many symptoms even before the positive, including nausea. And I never ever get PMS symptoms. There's no way I could've hid it from him.

OK, so not to be morbid, but early miscarriage is common. If you lost the pregnancy you'd be devastated and he'd be confused. That would be a crappy thing to keep from him. You'd also not be drinking coffee or wine and would be going to bed at 8 and puking round the clock. He'd probably figure it out.

ETA I reread and see you have a history of loss. That would make this a no go for us. I'd find another exciting way to tell

I might try to do something kind of in between. What if you celebrated his birthday a few days early for a made-up reason? And could you wait to POAS? Those of us in the TTC world are used to POAS ASAP (so many acronyms, ha!) but many women don't even find out until their period is several days late. So maybe POAS a week after you would... and celebrate a couple days later? That way you don't have to keep the secret as long.
