Sitting the back seat is rough because you feel every bump, twist and turn that the driver and front seat passenger doesn't. So I can understand Olive! When driving, I make an effort to not stop suddenly, make slower turns and generally drive with a bit more smoothness to make the ride better for her. But I would also try putting her rear facing. That would help, no? But if she protests that too much, maybe try giving her ice pops in those plastic sleeve things ... or jjo joo bah. It's cold so it calms the tummy and its an oral thing so she will be less likely to throw up.

good luck!

Maybe have some fun car ride games, like I Spy, Alphabet game? That could also help with the car sickness by keeping her looking outside. Chewing gum might be fun and help with the car sickness too... Or you could try a fun singalong CD?

similar to above, maybe a really compelling audiobook? start it at home, and she gets to continue it in the car. unfortunately I don't have any recommendations...

We have certain CDs that DD loves that we only listen to in the car. She's also kept a magnadoodle in there for the last year or so that she loves, though I don't know if that would make motion sickness worse.

My daughter had a few carsickness episodes on our last trip, and now we give her dramamine on every road trip. But she still is scared of the car, and dreads getting into cars or cabs.

Any thoughts on how to build positive associations for her, so that she starts to enjoy getting in the car? It's tricky because she doesn't like to eat in the car - and using an iPhone/iPad would probably make her more sick. Those are my goto bribes, so I'm not sure what to do to make our road trip this weekend a little more fun for her. Any ideas?
