We gave him his card then handed him a picture of the ultrasound. He had no idea what it was! For the in-laws, my husband just called them, they both live in New York. We've asked all the parents to not tell extended family members until we're ready to share the news. I printed this poem (stolen from the internet, and adjusted for us) on nice paper, framed and wrapped it, and put it under the tree to be opened as part of our Yankee Swap Gift Exchange. My MIL ended up being the one to choose it--which couldn't have worked out better. </p> <p>I do not have a face to see,<br /> Or put inside a frame.<br /> I do not have soft cheeks to kiss,<br /> I don't yet have a name.<br /> You can't yet hold my tiny hands,<br /> Nor whisper in my ear.<br /> It's still too soon to sing a song,<br /> Or cuddle me so near.<br /> But all will change come August,<br /> That's when they say I'm due.<br /> I'm the littlest McK,<br /> I can't wait till I meet you.<br /> All I ask between now and then,<br /> Is your patience while I grow.<br /> I promise I'll be worth the wait,<br /> Because of all the love we'll know.<br /> So what I have to give you now,<br /> Is a wish to you from me.<br /> I cannot wait to be a part<br /> Of this wonderful family!</p> <p>I called my mom the morning we got the +, and just said "I'm pregnant!" and she said "I know!" (Long story, but she claims to have known I was pregnant a full week before I did). </p> <p>I also just called my dad and stepmom (on New Years Day). Nothing special. They're lucky they didn't find out on FB. </p> <p>With our friends that we like enough to not want them to find out on FB, DH told them that I had a parasite growing inside my uterus that would exit the body naturally sometime in August. One of his friends didn't get it, and was seriously worried that I was going to die. Getting together for dinner and I can't wait any longer to tell my Mom, especially. They are coming over for drinks before dinner and I got champagne for Mom since it is her bday. I made little name tags out of paper (just circles) and then they slide on the bottom of the wine glass. They say Mommy, Daddy, Grandpa, Grandma, and Aunt. I hope they see them right away.<br /> Not sure about the inlaws, we are going to wait till we see them in person, so I have a month to figure it out.
